Propeller Of Flight 529 Broke Off And Lead To Horrific Crash | On The Move

On 21 August 1995, a blade on the left-side propeller of Atlantic Southeast Airlines Flight 529 breaks off. The imbalance of the rotating propeller causes the engine to partly tear itself from its mounting, creating excessive drag. The aircraft rapidly loses altitude and crashes, killing nine people. Chlorine deposits in the blade led to the development of corrosion pits and fatigue cracks, causing it to weaken and break.

  1. Having been burned in a workplace fire a year ago I know what the burn victims went thru, in my case it was only 2nd degree burns mostly on one arm which needed skin grafts, of course the graft comes from another part of your body which creates another wound than in my case hurt worse than the arm burn. 2-3 days in the hospital and 6 weeks recovering at home, multiple trips 4 hours each way for followup treatments, dressing changes, physical therapy. The skin is NEVER the same again, nerve endings and sweat glands get damaged/destroyed, so part of my grafted area is semi numb, another part ithe skin s very delicate and tight.

  2. 46:05 "It all comes down to money." Well… that's only true in a Capitalist system where PROFITS are maximized at the expense of passengers' lives. In fact, PROFIT supersedes all other concerns in our system.

In the late '80s or either early 90s an ASA plane was coming from Atlanta Georgia going to Brunswick Georgia something happened to the propeller I think it overspeed and it crashed like 5 minutes before landing at Brunswick Georgia and killed everybody on board including a congressman you have to look it up I'm not sure exactly what year it was but I do remember everybody was killed!!!

  6. A friend flew his Bianca Champ with the 2-cyl Franklin engine and wooden prop from Charleston to Greenville (SC) one fine day. As the Champ touched down he noticed a shudder coming off the throttle, so taxied to the service area. When he shut the engine down, the wooden prop fell off onto the tarmac as the service manager came over and asked ,"Can we help you with something?"
I used to fly with Bill so he could sit in front as I was always ready to prop start it.
