This series features a complete beginner’s guide to Project Zomboid, the zombie, crafting, survival sensation. Project Zomboid has a very punishing difficulty curve and with this guide I intend to help you start a new character, build a new world, start in a good location, explain the basics of controls, the UI, and give tips for surviving the early days in the game. I am not min/maxing here and doing my best to not spoil the game. I simply want to help new players get into the game and have a grasp of the fundamentals so they can survive, and also show people some gameplay if they were thinking of buying the game. As I am starting a new character, you can play along to learn the ropes 🙂
Come learn the basics of Project Zomboid!

PRIMO
I just found this channel. Bruh, how can you upload so much?
The helicopter event already happened in your last episode or the one before. Unless you changed your settings it is a one time event. But it is good to call out that the radio would tell you about the helicopter before it shows up.
LETS GOO
I would say you probably need to prioritize solving water as it will shut off soon and electricity if you want to be able to store perishable food. Getting rain barrels crafted should be top priority and secondary would be looking for a generator and then the magazine that lets you use the generator. If you dont get on this soon you might be in a rough spot in a few days.
Generators are common in residential sheds and storage units and the magazine can be found in bookstores, school libraries etc.
Another note is that if you put your rain barrels directly above your sink on the second floor you can hook them up to your sink. This would probably require you to find a sledgehammer to knock the walls out of the room above if you wanted to do that.
Hi Dr.
A pair of tips:
1. Whenever you want to carry something realy heavy (such as the grill), once it´s in your main inventory you can right click on it and equip as primary or secondary. This will reduce the encumbrance a good amount.
2. If you are drowsy in the middle of the day for whatever reason (alcohol, bad rest, wake too early…), you can always have a nap. Use the alarm on your digital watch or an alarm clock to wake you after sleeping a couple hours, so you are ok for what left of the day. In summer, daylight lasts much more than you can stay awake without sleep penalties (form 5:00 yo 21:00), so it´s a good way to make the most of the day. I usually set the alrm to wake up at 5:00, take a 1-2 hours nap about 14:00, and go to bed for good at about 22:00. I´m from Spain, we know a lot about siesta, lol.
Regards.
Hi Dr.
I forgot to tell you you left the oven on, so, it´ll be better if you turn it off the first time you reenter the game or you may have to find a new base.
Regards.
Without watching the video, I have already dubbed the grill as "The George Foreman Grill" lol. The z's are getting very close to your base. It's just a matter of episodes and I expect a full on fight with them. It's a good thing they have not thought of moving around the steel fences. Till the next episode.. cheers Doc.
Thanks to your tips I have managed to play my first really longer run in this game. I had started in a trailer park in the middle of nowhere with many zombies around and no houses were safe at all. I spent the first day walking along roads, through farms and whatnot until I found a bar and a market, but ended up dying at the parking lot the day after. I started the game with a burglar in one of the small bunch of houses close to that bar and had a very long run (for my standards), with almost 200 zombies killed. I'd cleared most of the region where I was living (there is also a scrapyard of sorts there) and died yesterday from the consequences of a scratch on the neck. I managed to stay alive many days after the scratch, so I ended up finding a two-story house to the east, to the south of a gas station and now my new carpenter is trying to move my possessions from the first base to the new one. I'm planning on using the carpenter's skills to board up the ground floor like you did (even though the house you've found is way larger than mine, it's still better than nothing, lol).
