Hopefully, you purchased and installed presealed Saltillo Terracotta tiles. If so, you’re on the right track to having a low-maintenance, long-lasting floor. But there’s one more step that’s critical! Topcoat sealer for terracotta floors is a must!
This #shorts video quickly explains why you need topcoat sealer for Saltillo tile. (This also applies to sealer for Mexican tiles, Cantera stone sealer, and sealer for Cement tiles.)
1. It seals the grout – that’s why we recommend that sealer for Mexican tiles is applied as the last step of your terracotta floor installation.
2. It provides scratch resistance.
3. It provides additional water resistance.
4. It provides the final cosmetic sheen that you desire. (Pro Tip: Most common tile sealer sheen is Satin or Low Gloss).
But that’s not all – quality matters! Whether you purchase something like our Terranano sealer or one of our other Mexican tile sealers, make sure to apply the best quality concrete tile sealer you can find. Doing so might cost a little more money upfront, but it will offer large financial savings in the long term. That’s because high-quality floor tile sealer lasts many years. Lower-quality sealers leave homeowners with the headache of sealing floors every 6-12 months.
So, don’t skip topcoat sealer for Mexican tiles. And apply high-quality floor sealer.
