Prison sentence for the rescue? | Nicola Banks | TVP World

A group of 24 volunteers has gone on trial on the Greek island of Lesbos more than four years after they were arrested for carrying out migrant rescue missions off Greece. Among the defendants accused of a string of misdemeanors is a refugee and swimmer Sarah Mardini. More on this topic in our interview with Nicola Banks, Action for Humanity.

  1. I'm really sorry to say this, but beware of Greeks bearing gifts. I just always wondered about the motivation of Greece turning the other way while refugees flooded Europe during the Syrian War. It just seemed way too symbiotic with the Russian intervention. And by some perverted logic Turkey was blamed. I guess I would ask how many of those migrants stayed in Greece vs how many just passed through into Europe? And now in the absence of an ulterior motive we predictably see the opposite extreme in this absurd trial. And what a remarkable coincidence with the the situation in Ukraine. I'm sure Greeks are just beside themselves with sympathy for Ukrainians. Not.

  2. Remember women and girls you will hear that expression quite a lot it originated from the U.S. hopefully they send them to prison for a long time these people do not live with the immigrants they smuggle into other people's countries they do not provide for them they just leave it to the very poor neighbourhoods who do have to provide for them. These people smuggle in immigrants they live in villages in Devon and Cornwall in rural Wales and Scotland.đŸ¤¨

  3. Laws are not to be disregarded. More especially regarding international borders. There are very specific rules and regulations concerning refugees. There is a point where one leaves refuge, taking matters into his own hands. The UNHR has the responsibility to ensure the safe and legal processes. This case would not have arisen if the UNHR were doing its work.
