In today’s episode, Becket talks with Cynthia Garrett about her wild journey to faith in Christ. Sitting in an Italian prison for a crime she did not commit, she had a miraculous encounter that led her to the Lord. Facing up to two years in prison, she actually escaped Italy, fled to Switzerland, and made it back to Los Angeles. Upon her return, she wound up becoming very successful in Hollywood, hosting shows on VH1 and her own late night talk show on NBC (“Later with Cynthia Garrett”). After years of success, she realized she hadn’t fully made Jesus Lord of her life. She finally submitted completely. Her story is stunning. Talk about amazing grace.

ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L’Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

Wow, just wow, this testimony struck me to the core for so I have many things that happened to me in my childhood and younger age quite similar to this (except the fame part) and I’m from Sicily and I know the mob reality very well. Thank you Becket and Cynthia for this. Glory to God Almighty
Correct me if I am wrong, but did she even mention sin or Jesus saving her from her sin? Honestly wanting to know?
Thanks. Cynthia's testimony really resonated with me, tho never done the drug thing. Just how low self esteem can damage your outlook and behaviour. The way The Lord reaches me is often through worship songs. Every morning I wake up and there's a worship song going round in my thoughts. It is a love message from God. Praise Him.
Interesting interview, thanks, Beckett!!
Yes indeed it does. But God is so good to me, to bring me through it all.
So so so good! Thank you for such a great show!!!
This needs to be a movie. If it’s safe. Becket thank you for this interview. Have you talked about your sexual abuse on your show? If you haven’t had a show on it can you?
Just started listening to your show Becket…I never heard of you before a month ago..but it's refreshing to hear the testimony of your salvation and conversion..just the real deal in a world of convoluted christianity..listening to these interviews of real conversion just reminds me of my own conversion..
Cynthia has a great testimony of God's grace!..just absolutely amazing..love it!
Praise God!
Wow what an incredible testimony! I am always amazed at how God comes right in where you are, He doesn’t care about the mess we’ve made , He still wants us. Being in prison didn’t stop God, He had a plan already for her life.
My sons name is Christian ❤
I love your show and what a fascinating interview!
Grace and peace.

Excellent interview Becket and such a great testimony. I saw many of Cynthia's teaching with her husband on TBN back in the day. Shout out from the uk 🇬🇧
Really go interview Becket thanks to you and Cynthia
Be blessed!
This was fascinating ❤❤❤
Owie! Yeah, know from personal experience, marrying a drug dealer practically overnight, who's violent and good at pretending to be a "good guy" and getting pregnant right away….well, it's my story, so I couldn't tear my eyes and ears away. My son is just past 40. I didn't sit for 3 months in a prison or jail cell though, just 8 hours (long story not telling here) and it wasn't overseas. Other than that, could totally relate to doing crazy things wildly to try to get "away" from what ended up really: myself and my brokenness and my sin. I married a Spaniard from Spain but he was fluent in English as he was raised stateside. That's about where our stories part. So, if Cynthia wonders if anyone can relate (she probably already knows how many do in one way or another) I'm here to say "Yep, I related a lot!" Thanks again, Becket, for a really great interview. I love watching your interviews.
❤ watching & listening to this. God moves in mysterious ways. It’s 👍🏻 how you’s have came out the other side with the sexual abuse you’s went through.
Thank you for your show. Such strength, bravery, & truth revealed!! God Bless you both! 💜🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻💜
Loved this conversation! God is amazing!🙌🏻
Love Love Love this interview. Thank you Beckett and Cynthia. NOTHING is wasted in Gods ecnomy
Hello fellow GenXers🎉 Thank you both for sharing your stories. Most things that happen as a kid you can't process till you get older. I didn't really properly grieve losses in early childhood, until I was an adult. I don't think it's a conscious choice, as a child you just naturally disassociate [now there's language for it] I love the way Cynthia said "It's an indulgent, decadent pursuit but threre's an innocence to it because it's the broken child looking for someone to love him." When I think of most of the bad things I've done, the motivation was to be loved. The only thing that kind of hit me wrong [I am a person who sticks on details like this] is when Cynthia said that she treats her adopted son different than her natural son. I guess it's honest, but it's kind of a shame. Hopefully he never sees her say anything like that.
I enjoyed this. My favorite videos on the amazing channel are testimonies. They are all so wonderful. Thank you.
Fantastic!
