  1. This game is a bag of mixed nuts — you got Metal Gear Solid codec (Iroquois? I see what you did there), gameplay Contra/Metal Slug and the plot is suspiciously similar to Escape from New York!

This game certainly has potential in hitting that "retro" feel.

  2. Hah, Detroit Penal Project. Great name for a band. Loving the gameplay and retro style plot but if there is no president to rescue why go in at all? Why not just firebomb Detroit?

  3. This is clearly based off the movie escape from New York, which I will remind everyone has the literal original Snake. It’s not based off metal gear. Metal gear is based off escape from New York.

  4. If part of the programming of this game was the fact that it looks like it's being played on an actual TV set, along with the reflection of the text right on the screen, then I am SEVERELY impressed IN ADDITION TO how faithful of a 90's 8-bit game this is! This is a complete winner!

  5. For some reason the noise the text made as it was being "typed" or as it appeared on screen was Hella annoying. I know thats nit-picking. But I had to skip the intro it was making my head hurt. With music behind it and then the text it wasn't so bad. But just the text sound alone. Anyway other than that this looks fantastic. I've recently been streaming Symphony of the Night
( twitch.tv/spacegeistski ) so I've had a new found resurgence of retro love and want to go back and play more 8 bit games. This game is definitely going on that list as a way to mix the past and the present. Great recommendation ABG as usual.

  6. Like others have said: Lots of Shatterhand and Powerblade here. Not a damn thing wrong with that! The person making this is quite an amazing indie game dev. The CV2 remake they've been working on is absolutely amazing. Awesome seein Simon make a cameo here too lol

  7. This game looks super sweet, but it has severe Metal Gear-vibes, especially with the use of radio transmitters and heavy text. Sooo much plot for a powerblade metroidvania spinoff; less text, more shooty! The music is quite nice, for all that exploration…

  8. Power Blade, Zen Intergalactic Ninja and Contra – in one game. Welldone devs, arcade, oldskul Shoot'Em Ups/Run'N'Guns/Platformers of 1980's, 1990's rules forever. Thanks a lot.
