  1. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or just Happy Weekend, whichever you prefer. I decided to just release the first half of the Starfield video now, then drop the whole thing once it's done in a few weeks. It's been a rough few months, but thing's are getting back on track and I got a lot of stuff lining up for the channel, now.

  2. I actually kind of feel bad for Todd on this one… compared to others within the genre it’s so limited and bland.

    As a long time stealth archer I don’t mind the dated combat… but everything else feels so strung together.

    They need to just hire the modders at this point.

  3. You nailed this analysis, and I think what cemented it for me was your take on the music in Starfield. The first time I got to New Atlantis, and that churning world-beat style thrum started up, I was like "So this is what the background music of Google's HQ in the year 2300 would be".

  4. The game was just so uninspiring and far off the mark of what I expected from modern games. When i saw how tiny neon was the first few hours in, for the first time, I immediately knew it was fucked.

  5. The best answer to "the astronauts weren't bored" is kerbal space program. The planets in that game have literally nothing, they're just big spheres, but the fun comes from the difficulty and complexity of getting there. The same goes for real life, the reason it's cool is because it's difficult. Starfield is the opposite, you go in a menu and watch a loading screen for a while, what sense of exploration or achievement are you supposed to get from that?

  6. 43:00 Thats too much style and musical taste for Bethesda. TES soundtracks have always worked because they're great, unique, and fantasy. Fallout 3 kinda had a cadence to it's music, like, it FELT like Washington DC through that music. But going into a setting that isn't so far removed from reality, they had a lot of opportunity that was wasted on what sounds like some "5 Hours of Royalty-Free Inspirational SciFi Music" type of stuff. And that extends out into the whole game. They were so afraid to have style, take risks, or try anything remotely shocking. Video games and movies have made me CRAVE the future with how cool they've made their worlds. I can honestly say Starfield's world was the dullest future I've ever seen, played, or read in my entire life.

  8. @1:18:00 – Another problem with taking over a ship that you cleared on the ground is that unless you're later in the game and have invested a number of skill points into your piloting, there's a good chance that the ship you cleared is a B-Class or C-Class ship and you won't be able to hop into the pilot seat anyway; all you can do at that point is search for any loot you can get your hands on and leave. This happened to me the first 3-4 times I actually found ships on the ground, until I invested points into the piloting perk and never got to a ship on the ground again.

  9. Starfield should have far less star systems and all major cities should all have big handcrafted maps like previous Bethesda games, maybe not so dense, but bigger (and land vehicles).

  10. It’s a decent game made on an ancient engine. They could’ve pulled this off a decade ago with lo-fi textures.

    The load screens and piles of obviously cut subsystems, features, and plot lines…it’s just unacceptable now.

    The main thing this game brings to the table is a future where woke wins and is just part of the background culture…and it’s BORING AF

  11. Addition to the music: I often would play Starcraft songs while playing. For example, when I had to run the red mile I put on the kinda campy "Zerg, a Shotgun, and You" because I was trying to lean straight into the space cowboy… In a game that only uses it for Akila and nowhere else. So I only ever skulked there and yearned for a better way to mix space cowboys, magic, and creatures. And Starcraft is a mixed bag itself, at least for Starcraft 2. Starcraft 1 was quite coherent.

  12. Starfield still not a space sim and if you think it is you are just trying to force a narrative. Todd said it`s BGS true and true, meaning it`s Fallout/Skyrim but in Space, BGS makes RPGs, story driven RPGs, there are hundreds and hundreds of problems and you start your video with "People who say Starfield is not a Space Sim are trying to deflect criticism", I`m going to quote Qui-Gon Jinn, the ability to speak doesn`t make you intelligent.
    Nobody said that Mass Effect is a space sim, so please, stop this non-sense, it`s a misleading mindset.

  13. I enjoyed the game in the beginning. Spent days just building ships. Completely forgot about doing main story quest. The game looks great, but it is glitchy and unpolished. I did not care about building outpost. Would have care d more if aliens/pirates raided the outpost.(horde mode). This would have been a much better game if they just concentrated in developing 10 or 20 planets.
