Now that the election is done, the direction of the incoming administration is becoming more well defined, and it looks like Trump is assembling a wrecking crew who’s mission is to cut the massive federal government back down to a reasonable, functional size.
This can only mean good things for people involved in all aspects of the automotive industry.

Never forget that crude oil varies widely in composition from area to area.
42 gallon barrel of crude only makes @12 gallons of gas. Other parts make plastic, heating fuel, etc.

I am preying the EPA is reigned in. The government has stifled so badly the car industry it's insane. Simple, basic cars are literally ILLEGAL. The USA wants a stripped down pickup with a huge engine, we don't want this government mandated electrical unicorn fart powered crap they are pushing us due to the "law" (or the EPA's interpretation of it).

I use to pull down 27 mpg with my 1980's era Chrysler 5th Avenue with the 318. My Mercury Grand Marquis 4.6 liter doesn't get any better mileage and it's so frigging complicated that I can't work on it. There was nothing on my 5th Ave that I didn't understand. My Grand Marquis is a fine automobile but I don't have the love for it that I had for my 5th Ave or even my Mustang LX 5.0. In fact, I liked my 96 Buick Roadmaster better than the Mercury. It was powerful, reliable and also yanked down around 27 mpg on the highway. Give me my older vehicles back.

I think it will be interesting to return to this thread in four years and review what has happened. It's a very different world to 100 years ago when isolationism worked, the world is a much smaller place now. Tariffs are anti free trade and stoke inflation, the consumer suffers.
