ABOUT THIS GAME
Sapiens is the debut PC title from solo developer Dave Frampton, known for Blockheads, Chopper, and Chopper 2.
In Sapiens you create your own prehistoric civilization. Lead your tribe from the ground, immersed in the world while you shape it. Build towns and industry with complete freedom and control, from placing the tiniest pebble to constructing monumental structures. Start with nothing and advance through thousands of years of technological breakthroughs in this intimate yet expansive colony sim.
Choose Your Home
Pick from thousands of procedurally generated lands across a map larger than Earth itself. Choose wisely, as each area has different climates, resources, and challenges. Finding the right place to begin your home is key to growing your civilisation.
Lead Your People
Walk the paths beside your people as you lead them through this uncharted world. Instruct individual sapiens to focus on specific tasks, such as planting crops, gathering materials, building, hunting, cooking, and more. Watch as they learn new skills, making them more valuable to your tribe. Manage their moods, health, and support their growing families.
Find Resources
Find new resources and send your sapiens to investigate, leading to new breakthroughs which unlock new things to build and craft. Start with primitive materials and work your way up to using more advanced tools and techniques.
Build A Civilization
Build shelters, both to keep your sapiens happy and to preserve food and resources. Every wall, roof, seat or fireplace can be placed individually. Each tree, log, plank or rock can be removed or situated, and the terrain can be dug, mined or filled to shape the world the way you want.
Expand Your Reach
Send sapiens over long distances and establish camps to gather far away resources. Create transportation networks to bring those resources back to your base for processing or storage. Send a group to explore over great distances, or conduct a hunting mission. Take down a mammoth to feed and clothe your tribe for months, but know that you may lose some sapiens

  1. I have played the demo 5 or 6 times now, and a top tip is to keep clicking on random things to see if you can investigate them. Investigating is probably one of the most important game mechanics. Also when choosing a tribe, go for a large one right next to a dark green area, and pay close attention to the stats of the tribe members. You need good soil to grow food, and some traits can be a large disadvantage <33

  2. This looks like a cool game. Looking forward to watching more. I cracked up when you said you probably shouldn't stand in the fire that cracked me up looking forward to seeing more

  3. This game really reminds me of Dawn of Man, I remember whatching you play that back 3 years ago! The art style is very different though, but I think the skill tree, and the overall gameplay is similar.

  4. I picked a tribe with just 2 people at the beginning, which is tough as things aren't done in time most of the time. Then came the recruits, but whoever they were, they decided to come in the middle of the night so I could not find them. It's just brilliant…

  5. Got curious about this game from this video and watched a few streams. In-game years go by pretty quick, so don't assume that a resource is safe because it "will spoil in a few years". Speaking of years going by, the game music gets really annoying, at least to me. Each track (there's one per season) is pretty repetitive, and each season is only just long enough to make you sick of the music before switching to the next track so you end up sick of all four. The gameplay itself is interesting but the streams got tricky to watch because of this–if there's a way to turn the music off, that would probably improve video appeal if you make a series of this (which I would enjoy watching!)

  6. Awwww, missed getting another demo!! Miss a video notification here or there & miss games that have demos out for a short time before they come out! Bad luck lately… I see a video & think it looks good and excited for the demo, then they are gone when I watch the video & want to try it out too 🙁 Too bad devs won't leave demos up for at least a couple weeks after a game comes out because often that's when people hear about them!! Oh well, I don't think I would have liked only playing "2 days" for the demo, nor would I pay $22.50 with a 10% discount in the sale going until Aug 8. Good think I can enjoy PSJ as he shows off the game at least 🙂

  7. Paul, I've heard you use the saying "…is not ONE for this world," many times over the years. It is an unknown variation of the standard "…is not LONG for this world."
Is that a regional variation? If so, which region? I know of a few areas you have lived in.
I am aware that you like to bastardize sayings and words for comedy sake, but I don't think this is one of those times. Thanks!

  8. i've enjoyed watching this one and really hope to see another one of these. This is actually the second time I've watch this episode. Watched it when it first came out and because I watched it with my grandkids at their house it showed up as I hadn't seen it yet so I was hoping it was a new one haha. It was enjoyable to watch again though as the kids aren't here distracting me haha
