The 21st century is now 25% complete. So, what will live be like 75 years from now, in 2100? What will happen before the end of the century? How will space colonization and exploration have changed?

"There's always something you can do"
"There's not a single problem we face right now that is not solvable"
"Things will get worse before they get better, but they will get better as long as we work toward it."
I feel like this is a VERY valuable mindset to apply not just to large-scale societal problems but also to one's personal life. No matter how bleak your current situation may seem, there's always a way forward. If you're still breathing, that means there are things you can do to make things better. It ain't over 'till it's over.
I think its also reasonable to predict that nasa budget will increase to at least few % of us gpd
Someone said you should be terminated. You're a good YouTuber, you are important to the astronomical community on YouTube full of clickbait.
Edit: why do some people hate you?
We are living in the end times. Repent and turn to Christ
Prologue: I was so engaged by your video that I composed a response that wound up being far too long for a YouTube comment. This is now posted to my Substack under the title 'Realistic Forecasts of Humanity’s Spacefaring Future: Response to “Predictions for the End of the Century” by the “Kyplanet” YouTube Channel.'
Following is a brief excerpt of this essay:
-=-=-=-
Excerpt:
The challenges of humanity’s future as a spacefaring species cannot be overstated. While reusable rockets like Falcon have made significant strides in reducing costs, they represent only the beginning. Achieving cost-effective and sustainable progress in space will require addressing a host of complex, interconnected challenges.
The most critical next step is developing self-sustaining, truly healthy orbital habitats. What we currently have in orbit—like the ISS—are essentially primitive outposts, incapable of supporting communities or providing long-term self-sustenance. These habitats lack the necessary systems to scrub carbon dioxide, replenish oxygen, and establish self-sustaining energy and nutrient loops. For humanity to thrive in space, we need facilities that can support life with health risks comparable to those of an Antarctic research station. This will require immense investment, planning, and breakthroughs across multiple disciplines, from molecular biology to materials science.
And yet, this step is often overlooked. Flashy visions of manned missions to other planets frequently bypass the essential intermediary stages, like optimized orbital transport and robust space infrastructure. Without these foundations, missions beyond the Moon are likely to be risky, inefficient, and unsustainable. It is my estimate that humanity might reach the point of developing self-sustaining orbital habitats by around 2150—far later than many would hope, but a realistic projection given the scale of challenges we face.
The long-term future of humanity rests on solving these fundamental issues here on Earth. The allure of imagining ourselves as a multi-planet species is inspiring, but it is grounded in the realities of politics, culture, and economics. Without addressing these factors, the dream of thriving beyond Earth will remain just that—a dream.

How likely is Kessler Syndrome by 2100??
1:03 uh, only the first one
Space elevators where?
I will make enough money to afford a 3D printer so that whenever one of my organs starts to fail I can print a new one just so I can live to see all this.
Whats your view on climate…
I think most of the video is somewhat realistic, except for the interstellar mission part. The probes needed would have to both be ultralight and able to communicate from light years away, and unless they do some sort of swarming to make a mega antenna, I don’t see interstellar missions happening this century.
I agree with a lot of what you said, however I think by 2100 the new gilded age corporate feudalism thats taking place will have been upended by another popular revolt.
Shortages in rare earth metals may force us to dig deeper, causing a reduced cost benefit unless technology can keep up, this may incentivize lunar mining.
Day 1 of asking Kyplanet to talk about NASA’s eyes on exoplanets cuz it needs more love
10 degrees celsius of warming and 200m of sea level rises are locked in by the present level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The is proven in James Hansen's (NASA scientist) 2023 peer-reviewed paper Global Warming in the Pipeline, freely available online to read.
During the last deglaciation, an increase of 270ppm to 370ppm of CO2 caused 7°C of warming. Current level of CO2 is ~430ppm, not including other GHGs.
It's very likely we will go extinct along with most life on Earth. The climate is changing at a rate akin to a meteor impact.
There will only be humans left by 2100 if they are living in closed ecological systems in underground bunkers.
i sure hope a funny vladimir and a funny donald wont nuke the entire earth with the entire nuclear arsenal that physically exists
Planet 9 comfirmed in 2030
With these mfs in charge of space travel we ain't even touching the moon again . I don't like to be all doom and gloom but how did NASA lose the original moon footage and even the technology. Man I wish the people in charge weren't held back by governments we would've been on mars 20 years ago bcz as we know NASA is the embodiment of revolutionary technology at least they were . but there is hope for us of course . we were born to rule over the stars after all .
Your videos are gold!
Technically: Year 2025 only started. When it is competed, then 1/4 of the century will be done.
This constant complaining about Mars and always bringing up the Moon is getting old. We get it—no one disagrees with you. Talking about Mars doesn’t mean the Moon will be overlooked or forgotten. The channel is fantastic, but this repetitive, pedantic commentary is hard to sit through. At least half of the video feels unnecessary and redundant because of it. People focus on Mars because it represents the long-term vision, the new frontier, the place we’ve never been, and so much more. That doesn’t mean, in any way shape or form that what you say about the Moon isn’t absolutely correct. The Moon is completely fundamental to our future!
Apart from this detail it's a great video and I hope you do more of it. Happy New Year!
Mercury is actually a good place for a colony, at least at the poles
We're closer to 2100 than we are to the end of ww2.
Your optimism and predictions are toxic
I think the only way for space economy to work is to find something that can uniquely be done in space that is so high value that it is worth the literally astronomical capital costs. Communications are not it, building out fiber and cell networks have become cheaper and cheaper and satellite comms will always just be a rural only phenomenon (or military, but even this is debatable with jamming and outright satellite hard kills), which does not provide enough income for the huge costs involved. I don't think going to space to make going further into space easier is it either, that reeks of circular reasoning and wishful thinking that there is something out there that is intrinsically worth it.
I don't think resources are it either, whatever is in space we can find on earth for cheaper. I'm betting it will be a process that will only work in space, like creating life extension medicine or crazy magic nanotech stuff that we don't even know about yet.
I'm still partying like it's 1999
You wait proven rentability for private companies to pull their fingers from their asses and do the job,
I wait carefully planned economies by nations states to build the way to private companies via long term strategic goals and contracts.
We are not the same
My granddaughter, born in 2019, may see the 22nd century, but alas, I'll be lucky to see 2050.
As long as SpaceX is around, space development will continue to progress.
It is not 25% complete. It will be completed once 25 years had passed whixh it has not, the 25th year just began, it hasnt ended yet. Only 24% of the century now
Any time travelers here?
Can you do video, if it is possible to send human missions to jupiters moons or saturn moons?
this moon propaganda is excellent and I'm all in for it
Someone who is 4 years old right now could be watching this in 2100
I’m exhausted and fed up with the pessimistic attitude from my generation (gen Z) about our future as a species. Thank you for having the guts to rule out nuclear war and predicting permanent solutions to some of our biggest issues on this planet.
I believe that we will become multiplanetary species, preparing to colonize the first objects in the outer solar system. Permanent colonies on the moon, mars, Venus and ceres. I wonder if we have sent a LOT more probes to the rest of the solar system. We may even see the surfaces of other celestial objects like Eris, Haumea, Makemake and may even land on some of them. I am young enough to live until the 2100. I was born in 2008, so I will be 92 years old if I live until then. You probably will never see me again, so live long enough to witness the future of humanity. There is only one thing I want to see, the surface of Proxima b. Thank you for reading this comment, have a great life at least and like many people said before me sayonara…🚀🌌🌟 Nice channel BTW Also find Life
Saw how many years i still have left for me in this world. Found that i might die in 2088 became mad that i won’t make it to 2100. And decided to survive until then.
Whos watching this on the moon?🙋♂️
I want to go to the Moon or space in my lifetime.
I found this channel in 2024, and it's already one of my tops
my prediction: unbelievably cooked
This is all a little optimistic. Not impossible, but optimistic.
No nation or private entity should be able to claim any planets, natural satellites, or sectors as their own. All of these become properties of the human species.
Private space commercial activities should be restricted to space stations and general space recreation.
Space mining is to be owned and conducted collectively by a united earth coalition. Private space mining and space factories are prohibited.
