I’d really like to see a kind of “everyone is here” minus the crossover characters, and I think it’s possible since the amount of racers on the track has doubled
For new characters though I think it’s likely we see some more basic enemy types like Goomba and Ninji because they’ve appeared as playable in other Mario spinoffs recently (I know Goomba doesn’t have arms but if King Boo can drive with no legs I think it’s fine) and also Boom Boom and Pom Pom deserve some love imo since they appear quite often.
This one is more of an out there pick but I think Foreman Spike has a possibility of being there since he was in the Mario movie. Also since this game is kind of returning to “classic style Mario” in terms of the aesthetic I can def see them revisiting some forgotten characters
This is technically the 10th Mario Kart game because "Mario Kart Tour" pretty much is our Mario Kart 9 considering it is part of the mainline of the series, unlike the two arcade games.

I think poplins would be a better inclusion than just prince florian himself. I think prince florian could still appear in some of the poplin's tricking animation though
I doubt we'll get Funky Kong considering DK got a new design in this meaning unless Funky gets a new design too it'd be really weird to have old Funky Kong next to new Donkey Kong and I just don't think it'd be worth making a new Funky model given that he's not a major character. People aren't really taking the new art style into consideration, some of these characters will need completely new models to fit in and not clash with the others. Also no Ninji? Really?
I'm pretty sure the 24 we saw are the full roster. if there were more there'd be more weird cases, something like Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, and Baby Daisy appearing but no Baby Peach – that kinda thing, or smthn like a very obvious character like Wario being missing. the fact the 24 we saw seemingly create a "full" feeling roster without any obvious exclusions makes me think it's the full roster. I don't think they woulda meticulously made it that way, all they woulda really cared abt is having the most important characters up front when making the trailer
sure there are some weird exclusions like Dry Bones, Dry Bowser, Metal Mario, and Pink Gold Peach, but like, those aren't unbelievable at all lol
I really want them to bring back Captain syrup from the Wario Games after 17 years.
Also, It’s crazy that, for years of Mario games having pirate themes in all kinds of things line maps, they never use a specifically pirate themed characters for those things . Even tho Nintendo already had pirate characters from the Wario Games, who they refuse to use.
Overall, I just really want mariokart to add more Spin off characters and give those obscure characters a chance
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T DISLIKE THE DK REDESIGN!!! I love how they movie-fied him since everyone is getting their Wonder designs, and since DK wasn't in Wonder, he got the movie design!

As low as the chance is, I’d love for Lumalee to be a playable character
The only other time we saw a Luma in MarioKart was alongside Rosalina in Wii, and Lumalee had somewhat of a prevalent (though very morbid) role in the movie, meaning he’s been in the spotlight more recently than both Lubba and generic Lumas
I really want K. Rool- would be a nice showing if they’re gonna make a new DK game with K. Rool. And I think it’s possible, considering how popular he was with Smash. Even if that hype is long in the past, they probably still would have plans for him moving forward after that, if they’re working on a new DK game. And given all the DK stuff lately, I’m cautiously optimistic.
Your roster is pretty solid, though, and there’s nobody else I’d really want you didn’t include. I will offer that Birdo wasn’t in base 8 despite appearing on ads on like, Royal Raceway, so we can’t guarantee the Koopalings or Nabbit, but I have a good feeling they will still be here.

I doubt the koopalings they're coming back since they're not relevant in the switch era and it kinda feels like a mario kart 8 thing, morton construction stays as a brand inside of mario kart's world but i'd say they're moving on. I think if they color code different weight classes from dark red being superheavy, to baby blue being featherweight and the in between weights being different shades of colors would be a great way of showing which characters are in different weight classes and characters like pink gold peach, cat peach, peachette, cat mario, metal mario gold mario can all be in their own costume menu by pressing y, the main offical characters can be selected by just pressing a

I would love to see Pom Pom ! I think there needs to be more female characters that aren’t just overly feminine and pink

Wiggler is definitely coming back, it doesn't make sense not to add the character to this game.
