Now that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has wrapped up the Booster Course Pass, we’re eventually gonna get Mario Kart 9. So today, I thought it would be to fun to try and predict which tracks will make a comeback once the game releases.

The fact that this year marks the original Mario Kart 8's tenth anniversary and we haven't really gotten much in the way of new games in that time span, at least in terms of console games (unless you count Live Home Circuit), is kinda crazy to think about
Ngl mushrooms bridge had it’s fair share alr it’s time to get city instead of Bridge
Wuhu loop needs to be included and gba rr is gonna happen over GCN because Mario kart has been adding rainbow roads in chronological order
My Mario Kart 9 retro course prediction:
Shell Cup
DS Figure-8 Circuit
SNES Ghost Valley 1
Wii Toad's Factory
3DS Wuhu Loop/3DS Wuhu Island Loop
Banana Cup
3DS Shy Guy Bazaar
Wii Mario Circuit
SNES Bowser Castle 2
Wii U Sunshine Airport
Leaf Cup
GBA Lakeside Park
SNES Vanilla Lake 2
Wii U Electrodrome
N64 Wario Stadium
Lightning Cup
Wii U Cloudtop Cruise
GCN Mushroom City
3DS Bowser's Castle
GBA Rainbow Road
I'm following the same pattern with 16 retro courses that has never been remade in a console game before. But I might be wrong, because you can't really predict Nintendo when it comes to Mario Kart. Besides I think I'm gonna be wrong anyway.
So what do you think.
Here's my retro track predictions
Shell Cup:
DS Figure 8 Circuit
3DS Daisy Hills
Wii U Sweet Sweet Canyon
Wii Toad's Factory
Banana Cup:
3DS Mario Circuit
SNES Koopa Beach 1
Wii U Twisted Mansion
GBA Yoshi Desert
Bell Cup:
N64 Wario Stadium
SNES Vanilla Lake 2
Wii U Sunshine Airport
GBA Lakeside Park
Leaf Cup:
GCN Wario Coloseum
Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline
Wii U Electrodrome
Wii Dry Dry Ruins
Lightning Cup:
Wii U Cloudtop Cruise
SNES Ghost Valley 3
GCN Bowser's Castle
GBA Rainbow Road
I think the issue with this prediction is the idea it’s still going to be 8 cups. Going from 96 tracks to 32 would be such a downgrade, and I’d see it really hard to market. I personally see it starting with 48 tracks like MK8DX, and whether it gets DLC or not is up in the air.
My retro track predictions:
Shell Cup:
DS Figure 8 Circuit
3DS Daisy Hills
SNES Bowser Castle 1
Wii Toad's Factory
Banana Cup:
8DX Sweet Sweet Canyon
N64 Frappe Snowland
DS Delfino Square
GCN Mushroom City
Leaf Cup:
Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline
GBA Cheep Cheep Island
N64 Wario Stadium
8DX Electrodrome
Lightning Cup:
3DS Maka Wuhu
Wii Dry Dry Ruins
GCN Bowser's Castle
GBA Rainbow Road
Honestly I think people misunderstand that MK8D is in such a good spot as a software product. Mario Kart 9 is probably pretty far off – I wouldn’t expect it for a LONG time, over a decade, unless they want to try something very new. MK8D is just THE Switch Mario Kart, and the dev process for a new MK game would just be so expensive and take very long, just to NOT meet people’s extremely high expectations.
I’d love to be proven wrong on the MK point, but the Switch is in such a good place, and as such Nintendo doesn’t need to release new iterations of every existing game every few years (they don’t have to accommodate for new console hardware, and the Switch 2 will be a new iteration of the same stuff so backwards compatibility and account transfer will work fully). It’s more effective to release a full and polished NEW game, reboot previous titles to the new standard, and when the rebooting is done, create more new and innovative titles while making new iterations of beloved games on a less frequent basis (after all, they’re beloved! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, unless you’re really confident that you can succeed).
I’d love to hear thoughts on this. Just something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately
There is no chance that gcn rainbow road is in the next game, nintendo established a pattern, 7 have snes rr, 8 have n64 rr, so if we continue on this path we have gba rr

Those ones aren't remakes, they're RMX tracks, which are original tracks that use the SNES (or GBA in Bowser Castle's case) aesthetics as a base
The actual Ghost Valley remakes in Tour are completely flat
1. There's going to be more than 32 tracks in the next game, Going from 96 tracks to 32 would be a huge downgrade. It's going to start with 48 tracks.
2. Why is Toads Factory after Dry Dry Ruins?
3. Piranha Plant Pipeline will be in the next game, but they will pretend like it's a new course like they do in 8 DX.
4. Where is SNES Mario Circuit 4? We need more SNES tracks since it has 20 of them!
5. Shy Guy Bazaar is not a Leaf Cup track, especially because it is a desert in the same cup as another desert
6. They didn't bring Toad's Factory to the Booster Course Pass because they would've had to simplify it for Tour, and people would be mad. Imagine Toad's Factory without the cranes, or the moving platforms, or the bulldozer? Daisy Circuit was included because otherwise 3 out of 6 Wii tracks would be a circuit.
7. GCN Rainbow Road will be DLC, Nintendo has been bringing back Rainbow Roads in order. SNES RR in 7, N64 in 8, so next is GBA.
8. 2 Bowser tracks back to back won't happen, and GBA Bowser Castle 4, while great in Tour, only works in Tour. In another game it'd have to be scaled way up or way down. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnPcrGNqtmU they chose to scale it way up and it's overly long, the stairs are too bumpy, it's only 2 laps, so I think new adjustments would need to be made for a new game.
We need to stop basing things off of Tour, that game needs to be forgotten. Yeah, stuff like Lakeside Park, GBA Bowser Castle have cool Tour remakes but I don't want retro tracks based on Tour tracks again. I want a new clean slate of a game
I love your picks, but there's no way Shy Guy Bazaar and Toad's Factory would be saved for so late in the game when they were originally in Mushroom Cup in their respective games. Both would definitely be in Shell Cup, not Leaf or Lightning Cup.
Here goes nothing!
Shell cup:
DS Figure 8 Circuit
SNES Koopa Beach 1
WiiU Sweet Sweet Canyon
Wii Toad’s Factory
Banana Cup:
3DS Shy Guy Bazaar
SNES Mario Circuit 4
WiiU Sunshine Airport
Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline
Leaf Cup:
N64 Wario Stadium
WiiU Super Bell Subway
GBA Broken Pier
GCN Bowser’s Castle
Lightning Cup:
GCN Mushroom City
WiiU Cloudtop Cruise
3DS Maka Wuhu
GBA Rainbow Road
I may or may not make DLC predictions 🤷♂️
I would say:
Shell cup
3DS Mario circuit
WII U Thwomp Rhuin
GBA Cheep Cheep Island
WII Toads Factory
Banana cup
WII U Toads Harbour
3DS Wohu loup
SNES Ghost Valley 3
GameCube Mushroom City
Leaf cup
WII U Sunshine airport
N64 Wario Stadium
WII Dry Dry Ruins
DS Airship Fortress
Lightning cup
WII U Mount Wario
GameCube Wario Colosseum
WII Bowsers Castle
GBA Rainbow Road
if you want you can switch mount war with airship fortress because its weird to have 2 Wario courses in 1 cup
great video! toads factory is my roman empire so as long as we get that one im satisfied
I have an extremely hard time believing that Nintendo will ignore the Wuhu Tracks,SNES Mario Circuit 4,Wario Colosseum, and Mushroom City.
What really needs a remake is Wii bowsers castle
Tbh I think we'll still only get tracks not yet returned at all for the 4 classic retro cups aka tracks not in ds, wii, 7, 8d and possibly tour depending on nintendo stance on that
Shell:
Figure-8 Circuit (DS)
Vanilla Lake 1 (SNES)
Daisy Hills (3DS)
Peach Circuit (GBA)
Banana:
Maka Wuhu (3DS)
Twisted Mansion (WIIU)
Lakeside Park (GBA)
Wario Stadium (N64)
Leaf:
Shy Guy Bazar (3DS)
Mario Circuit 4 (SNES)
Toads Factory (WII)
Mushroom City (GCN)
Lightning:
Wario Coliseum (GCN)
Dry Dry Ruins (WII)
Bowser Castle (DS)
Rainbow Road (GBA)
Think it will be a reboot, no retro courses, just entirely new
Here are mine Mario Kart 9 retro track predictions.
Shell Cup
DS: Figure-8 Circuit
3DS: Daisy Hills
Wii U: Sweet Sweet Canyon
Wii: Toad's Factory
Banana Cup
3DS: Shy Guy Bazaar
SNES: Vanilla Lake 2
Tour: Piranha Plant Pipeline
Wii U: Cloudtop Cruise
Leaf Cup
Wii: Dry Dry Ruins
SNES: Mario Circuit 4
Wii U: Twisted Mansion
N64: Wario Stadium
Lightning Cup
GCN: Mushroom City
Wii U: Sunshine Airport
Wii: Bowser's Castle
GBA: Rainbow Road
The reason I only went with GBA Rainbow Road as the only GBA course is because Mario Kart 8 Deluxe already has a decent amount of GBA tracks.
I personally think Vanilla Lake 2 would fit in the Banana Cup because it's an SNES track so its obviously basic, even though it's hard in the original version, they will remake it to be easier, and also its the only winter themed course to never get a remake.
I went with Wii's Bowser's Castle rather than GCN Bowser's Castle because Wii's Bowser's Castle is probably more of a fan favorite than GCN's Bowser's Castle
This lightning cup is a dream for me
I want ds bowsers castle
Hopefully, there is 120 tracks in total for the next Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I’m not playing Mario kart 9 if toads factory from the Wii isn’t there
Now we're talking! Somebody agrees that GCN Rainbow Road should get remade next as well?🤩
I think too many of these were in tour. I think if they wanted tracks for the next game, they wouldn’t go through the effort of remaking them in mario kart tour
My prediction:
