6:20 ah yes, as the germans did for everyone in '22
You really need to utilize the tall barbettes for small guns on these ships lol
The Japanese needs their super-duper imposed guns
That destroyer hull is mutsuki and kamikaze class hull, that excellent for torpedo boat destroyer with few guns..
Perhaps, to appease fans of both the new and old game, the devs could make the wrap-around map a toggle feature? Toggle on, wrap-around. Toggle off, static map?
More Insurgent Regimes
Yomiuri shinbun, Tokyo, 10 January 1923
The Insurgent Warlord of Ivory Coast is disrupting our operations against the Congo Free State, funded no doubt by Berlin. The government is asking the Fleet to attack this ungoverned territory. The Dai-ichi Kantai has been sent with the requisite troop transports to conduct the campaign.
The invasion of Congo Free State will start at the same time. The Dai-san Kantai will support this mission.
58:40: Okay, what the hell is that Irene class armored cruiser?
"those hulls are awful to work with"
ironically this is also the reason that I feel very satisfied when I finally make them hulls worked xD
yeah the map drives me nutz having to pan back n forth all the time n that weird edge zone as well
Not sure I'm all on board with the modification of the turtleback armor scheme. I know it was overly impressive in vanilla, but BM's mod undermines it as a viable alternative to All-or-nothing. I don't really have a "my version" to offer, and it's entirely possible the consensus of the gaming community is good with this mod, but I'm just kind of putting this out for discussion.
Tsubone hōkoku-sho: Gunreibu: Daisanbu: Jōhō-kyoku:
(Bureau Report: Navy General Staff: 3rd Department: Intellegence Bureau)
28 September 1923
Composition of the Kaiserliche Marine forces in the Atlantic Ocean off Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Conducting assessment of publically available records, and examination of The Jamess’ Book of Warships of the World, intercepted communications of the Kaiserliche Marine, and descrete scouting of the forces in the Eastern Equatorial Atlantic Ocean, we conclude the fleet composition is as follows:
Four Hildebrand class battleships or Schlachtschiffe. Refitted in 1921, these ships had a design displacement of 32 thousand tons, a target speed of 21 knots, and a crew of 985 officers and enlisted. They carry two triple 13.3” gun turrets, most likely fore and aft, one single 8.1” gun turret, eight single 4.5” guns, most likely casemates, and a tertiary batters of twelve triple 3.2” gun mounts. Armor gets to a thickness of up to 18.8” but is not of good quality.
One Admiral Hipper class heavy cruiser or Gepanzerkreuzter. Seen in August last year, the Admiral Hipper class has a target displacement of 14.4 thousand tons, 24.6 knot top speed, and a crew of 1453 officers and enlisted men. They carry three twin 10.1”/38 gun turrets, one forward and two aft on the main deck, six single 7.3”/32 wing turrets, three per side on the lower deck, eight casemate 6”/50 guns amidships, four per side, six 5.1”/45 casemate guns, three per side, two forward and one aft, and ten 3.7”/36 casemate guns in the superstructure, as well as two twin 3.4”/45 gun turrets flanking the rear tower on the main deck. The class has four underwater torpedo tubes, fore, aft, and one per side.
The Saschen, lead ship of her Gepanzerkreuzter class. A half knot slower than the Admiral Hipper class, with a 14 thousand ton displacement and a crew of 1493 officers and enlisted men, she carries a similar but slightly heavier armament, with only four single 8.2” turrets rather than six single 7.3” turrets. We believe she will present a similar threat to the one Admiral Hipper class.
The German fleet is rumored to have four Irene class fast Gepanzerkreuzter. Armed with only two twin 10.2” gun mounts, most likely fore and aft, a crew of only 676 officers and enlisted, they have a reported top speed of 33.1 knots on a target displacement of 12.5 thousand tons. Armor goes up to 14.5” in thickness but still is poor quality. If these ships are used properly as torpedo boat division leaders they will represent a serious threat. If they do not use their speed then they will have been wasted.
Reports suggest the fleet has one Frauenlob class light cruiser, or Leichter Kreuzer. With a design displacement of only 7 thousand tons, 24.2 knot speed, and 509 officers and enlisted men, the class carries colorfully mixed battery of single 9.7”, 6.5”, 5.3”, 2.5”, and 1.5” guns along with four underwater tubes.
Seven Cormoran class Leichter Kreuzer have a design displacement of 6 thousand tons, 25.5 knot speed, and 538 officers and enlisted men in the crew. Armor is superior quality up to 10.2” thisck. They have one single 7.1” turret, four twin 3.4” gun turrets, fourteen 1.7” casemate guns, and six single 2” guns, as well as the four underwater torpedo tubes.
The destroyer, or Zerstörer force is a mix of older V-3 1917 refits and newer V-25 1923 refits classes, including both class leads according to reports. There are two V-25 Zerstörer and three V-3 Zerstörer. The V-25 is larger at 1,650 tons versus the V-3 at 1,150 tons. Speed of the V-25 is only 25.5 knots indicating it is meant to operate with the fleet. The V-3 has a 34 knot speed. The V-25 has a 132 man crew and the V-3 a 93 man crew. Both classes carry two single main guns. The V-25’s are 5” and the V-3’s are 5.5”. The V-25 has two win 3” gun turrets and the V-3 has one single 1.7” gun turret. The V-25 has three quadruple deck torpedo launchers and the V-3 two triple deck torpedo launchers and one single deck torpedo launcher. Therefore the V-25s have a larger initial spread of torpedoes but the V-3 have a quicker reload. Strangely the V-3 class has superior and thicker armor, though this may only be on their larger gun turrets.
Cochinchina Taken
Yomiuri shinbun, Tokyo, 5 September 1923
The Dai-ni Kantai with a contingent of the Kaigun hōtei and a task force of new battleships and battlecruisers were able to taken control of Cochinchina, known locally as Vietnam. Formerly part of French Indochina, the territory became lawless and a haven for modern day piracy.
The Merchant Princes of Tokyo and Sasebo have pressured the government in applying similar actions against the pirates of Dahomey. The fleet however is focused on taking Middle Congo and potentially joining up the Congo Free State with the territory of Gabon, which the fleet is also invading.
The Côte d'Ivoire Taken
Yomiuri shinbun, Tokyo, 16 August 1923
The Dai-ichi Kantai with a contingent of the Kaigun hōtei has taken the territory of Côte d'Ivoire, or Ivory Coast. Formerly a colony of the République Française, the territory had become a lawless danger to commerce and a haven for pirates preying on merchant shipping of all nations.
New Gun Heavy Destroyer Class
Yomiuri shinbun, Tokyo, 28 June 1923
The Kaigun Kensetsu-Kyoku of the Kaigun-shō has announced the specifications for the destroyer class for the Dai-Nippon Teikoku Kaigun focused on the use of the new Mark 4 5”/35 guns.
The Okikaze class will consist of 20 ships; the Okikaze, Yūgiri, Fuyutsuki, Mutsuki, Warabi, Shiranui, Yayoi, Azusa, Sagiri, Tsuga, Hagikaze, Yūdachi, Sazanami, Askakaze, Kazagumo, Hakaze, Shirakumo, Yakaze, Teruzuki, and Kikuzuki, ten to be built out of Maizuru in the Kyoto Prefecture on Honshu and ten to be built at Matsuyama in the Ehime Prefecture on Shikoku. Designed to a target displacement of 2,400 tons and a top speed of 35 knots, the class will use the geared turbine engines powered by steam from naturally aspirated boilers burning oil vented through two funnels generating a total of 36,013 indicated horse power to turn two screws to obtain the required 35 knot speed with a range of 7,600 nautical miles on a final displacement as designed of 2,379. Electro-hydraulic power turns the balanced rudder and a diesel auxiliary provides supplementary and emergency power.
The main armament is three twin 5”/53 mark 4 gun turrets on the centerline, two mounted super firing forward, one mounted on the secondary tower barbette aft firing over the torpedo launcher. These fire a HE heavy magazine of base fuze high explosive and armor piercing capped II shells using medium burn Cordite II as the propellant and TNT III as the bursting charge. The turrets have anti-flash fire protection systems and advanced electro-hydraulic turning engines. The guns have enhanced reloading systems. The guns are aimed by the type IV coincidence range finders. The class also carries Radio Detection Finders (RDF) and Sonar for the detection of torpedoes. The class will have one quadruple deck torpedo launcher using 21” standard torpedoes with one reload.
For a secondary the class carries two 2”/35 mark 4 single gun mounts in the secondary towers.
The ship has standard compartmentation with reinforced bulkheads and watertight hatches, a double bottom hull, and anti-flooding systems. A class has 0.1” on chromium/nickel alloy steel for splinter protection. The 5”/35 gun turrets carry a face and top armor of 1.5”. The 2” secondary gun mounts are not armored.
The class carries a crew of 129 officers and enlisted men in cramped quarters under the command of the Kaigun-shōsa. Each ship costs $46 million and will take 8 months to complete with a commissioning time of one month at least. Estimated monthly maintenance in port is $2.0 million. These destroyers will be assigned to various duties.

The Nokogiri, Mikuma, Jizō, Sannosawa, Nachi, and Kashimayari are under construction with three being built out of Maizuru in the Kyoto Prefecture on Honshu and three being built at Matsuyama in the Ehime Prefecture on Shikoku.
With all due respect to the devs, if they think that a wrap around map is just asthetic, then at least where that is concerned they are idiots. in 2023 that is a basic quality of life feature.
21:40 "I told the Kaiser the Mark 14 was shit! But no, he said Waffenpruf had said the torpedo was perfect in all respects!"
That dramatic DD chase was one of the best UAD battles I have ever seen, seems like you are getting things quite right with your mod!
18:10 I think that's actually how the ship is pronounced 😆
I love how you're the most conservative ship designer in the world and are sitting there chuckling about how the conservatives will be aghast at your triple abx set up 😛
Our losses: 1 three masted light cruiser and 2 Destroyers.
