I think a key aspect is how many bullets you get and how often you reload. I'm pretty sure you need to use the shot recoil to help reduce how much you need to use that paddle, recoil the ball up as it falls.
It would make sense why the slingshot is an "upgrade", if you're using the shots as utility, you can keep your mouse off the bottom of the screen.
Would love to see more of this! I'm sure Tom will figure it out 😀

I Feel like you need to focus more on shooting to aim the ball rather than shooting to kill
not sure if anyone else has mentioned it yet, but Right Click is a hotkey which will immediately make you shoot straight down! it makes keeping the ball in the air (and even saving it from falling off screen) a lot simpler
This seems like a Harry-Barry game where I'd need to be on crack and move in constant X2 speed like he does

the ANGEr i felt every time tom let his ball fall when he still had shots and could've just shot down to save himself, never change tom, its infuriating but charming
Slingshot would have been GOAT – having your ball fly towards where you're aiming rather than away is so much more intuitive

TBH games "like" this that don't heal you for free between stages are just… poorly thought out, to put it nicely, IMHO
Ah, another "Tom no read good" moment where he thinks "BULLETS pierce through 1 enemy" says "BALL pierces through 1 enemy" and then makes multiple remarks that would be true if what he had read was actually what was written.
Maybe it's the HUD, but this game gives me some Downwell vibes for some reason

This would totally be a game my brother and I would split the controls between back in the day (like we did with The World Ends With You).

It hurts so much to see Tom repeatedly take the "melee" upgrades and then attack mainly with his gun!!! I think he'd have been MUCH better off relying on the shooting to manoeuvre around and control the ball.
