In Columbus the mayor is a Democrat. All seven of the city council members are Democrats. The police chief is appointed by city leadership. The AG is a Republican. The DA is a Democrat. The struggles Columbus is facing are not racial, but they are cultural. The are also the fault of the Democratic Party. The most recent Republican mayor served from 1992-2000.
It has always been like that.. my Aunt lived right there and in the late 70's that Hookah bar was a honky tonk kind of bar with fights back then and in fact a girl I went to school with who also lived in that stretch was in a car packed with young girls and got in a wreck right there, her sister lost her life, my friend lost a eye, another friend lost her teeth and her face is scared to this day from that accident.
