PM to travel to US to unveil AUKUS nuclear subs plan

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says the Prime Minister looks set to travel to the US next month to announce the AUKUS nuclear submarines plan with the US President and his British counterpart.

“A report on the Bloomberg News Wire service revealed the plan on Friday,” Mr Clennell said.

“There was also speculation over the weekend that before acquiring a fleet of nuclear submarines from 2040 on, Australia may lease a 30-year-old nuclear submarine to start training submariners and bridge some of the gap between Collins-class and the nuclear subs.

“Neither the trip nor the plan to lease a sub have been denied to me, although as I understand it, the trip is not fully locked in as yet.”

  1. Ffs don’t disclose any of Australia’s defence interests. You could take the plans make every part a million dollars and get each machine shop in Australia to build a part and it would be cheaper then the fuck fest Australia will get itself into dealing with the USA and Britain. Just build the shit. Australia , like the retarded brother of the world that no one likes and only have over so they can make fun of it. I welcome our future Chinese or British dictators can’t get any worse. The place is ran by alcohol induced foetus syndrome mafia masons that should have been aborted at birth. I remember sitting hours in class thinking how the fuck does this shit take so many years to learn the same stupid shit then I looked around generations of literal lepers. The drinking age should be raised to 21 at least some kids might escape this holocaust. Australia sucks can’t even be of British decent and have a beer on Australia Day without some retard leper trying to suck the steam of my shit.

  2. We should have a referendum on this agreement. People are kept in the dark, possibly necessarily but some ex politicians are worried about our sovereignty. Do we want to become another state of America? Will advancements in missiles make them obsolete by the time they are delivered. The money spent would fix our health system and then some.

  3. You just watch Albo try to take credit for the subs. He was a senior member of the previous Labor govt that did JACK SHIT on ship and sub orders and Abbott had to rush decisions through as soon as he came to power because nothing had been done for 6 years under Labor. Labor are the worst managers of national security.

  4. 2040. This typical of left wing politicians – this falls under a government of well into the future.

    Again another labor policy failure.

    1. Lease two submarines to train on. One is out on training while second boat – is in maintenance.

    2. New nuclear submarines – within five years. First one to be delivered then.

    3. Again – push it out way into the future. The threat is now. Going to 2040 – is to late. We are at 2023 now. That is typical of labor. We made the commitment to buy nuclear submarines. Just not in your life time. To long to wait – huge capability gap that exists now. The Collins class submarine is already at the end of it's practical service life. Unless plans to buy a conventional submarine from their new friends the French. When in reality the German hydrogen powered submarines to patrol Australian littoral waters would be the best option. Who would know with this bunch of left wing clowns.

    4. SAAB, Visby class stealth corvette – cheaper – faster – much more resistant to battle damage as made from carbon fiber.

    5. New air dominance fighter air craft. You have the new U.S. 6th gen, or E.U. 6th gen.

    6. B-21 raider, long range stealth bomber.

All need to be ordered this year. Meaning the ones that are in use as of today.

The only wait time would be – the new Air dominance fighter.

Again labor are as useless as a hip pocket on a singlet.

  6. It's nice that the US is letting Australia purchase it's military hardware, yet cannot issue a simple piece of paper to Australians wanting to live/work there. The DOL has a backlog of U visa certifications while USCIS is taking three years to process a U visa application. For too many decades now the US has just been taking advantage of Australia's good will while giving a giant middle finger when an Australian in the US becomes the victim of a crime and needs help. The US immigration system is a complete mess, and it's high time the Australian PM reminded Biden to clean up his act because it is very much impacting those Australians who are in the US.

  7. We need a much stronger defence force to discourage any idea that aggression against us will pay-off. We need nuclear weapons because we are too small to defend ourselves with small numbers of conventional weapons and wishful thinking.

  8. Wong would be a Republican, only to hand over to Xi when he arrives as emperor of Australasia with Parliament in Melbourne Victoria, where the CCP already owns the majority of minds within the Murdoch Family Trust. I did not include Dan Andrews, because he has no mind.
