Plucked from death by divine intervention, the Martyr Penitent soldiers on #trenchcrusade

Martyr Penitents do not have the best time of it in Trench Crusade.

Trench Crusade is an upcoming skirmish game designed by artist Mike Franchina, sculptor James Sheriff, and former Games Workshop designer Tuomas Pirinen (He who made Mordheim).

  1. We see some of his effects on the troops of New Antioch, but now I wonder seeing ressurected martyrs directly linked to him: what is the Metachrist? Do we even know in the lore?

(This question comes to you by a newbie to Trench's lore)

  2. The incarnation of the LEROOOOOOY JENKIIIIIS style of battle

Edit: besides, I can imagine some people actually accepting that fate, just to enjoy the carnage without a worry in their demi-lives🦉

  3. Boy it really seems like being part of the forces of the faithful isn’t much better than being part of Hell’s forces.
In this setting it really seems like what we consider “God” and the “Devils” are more like lovecraftian beings who harvest the faith and suffering of their followers as a resource.

  4. One's like this make me think that that "God" has actually abandoned this world or was possibly killed or overthrown by his underlings and it is his "Angels" who are really the ones guiding humanity against the forces of hell in their own twisted ways. Either that or the "God" of this setting is just as cruel and vile as "Satan" and they're both in actually two equal beings fighting for dominance or perhaps they're just playing a game with humanity, angels and demons just as toys for them to manipulate in a cruel cosmic game for their entertainment.
