Plenty of Australia’s coal-fired power plants “have a long time to live,” says Centre for Independent Studies’ Aidan Morrison.
Mr Morrison joined Sky News Australia to discuss the future of energy in the country.
“It’s been commonly said that our coal power stations are sort of old and falling apart,” he said.
“I think it’s overexaggerated.
“Plenty of coal plants actually have a long time to live and if they were to live to their sort of natural and expected lives, some of those would still be going in the late 2040s up to around 2050.”

Those coal plants that aren't too old are increasingly uneconomic. That's why all of them are forecast to be gone by 2038. Keeping them open until they could be replaced by nuclear would cost tens of billions in subsidies. Let's hear how the LNP plan to address that.

What ever happened to the level of education in this country? 1) There is nowhere near enough battery or pumped hydro for Oz to hit net zero. 2) Even if Oz hit net zero, due to the unabated increase in CO2 output by Asian countries there would be no discernable impact on overall Co2 atmospheric levels. 3) Co2 does not control the climate, the Milankovitch cycles do, as has been acknowledged by scientists for 100 years.
The only thing Australia net zero projects achieve is wealth transfer to Woke billionaires, power transfer to Marxist politicians and significantly greater poverty and oppression for everyone else.

they are not old Climate zealot Policies from Various State Governments both Labor and liberal have implemented policies forcing coal fired Plant to Jump through even tougher environmental Hoops while giving clear preference to Renewables and Subsidies to Power Corporations Like AGL, Origin, Energy Australia .through a program to deliberately run down Functioning Power plants through not adhering to Known Coal Plant Maintenance Programs .
Take away the Subsidies and Pricing Guarantees to Power companies level the playing field for Nuclear to Compete in the Market Place but I Highly Doubt it the Power companies enjoy the Business welfare sucking on the Taxpayers Teat .
some of those renewables will be at the end of their Life Cycle and Further Expenditure will be required at an even Higher rate and More Subsidies and Further Destruction of Australia's Natural Environmental Land mass also Agricultural Landscape .. Wont use Nuclear over unreliable Wind and Solar- the excuse cost. If the planet was in such danger cost would not even be worried about . The deal would be 100% reliable green energy at any cost-Nuclear. Mind you China, India, Indonesia all are building coal fired power plants . They have climate scientists too.

You don't get any net output by pumping water uphill and dropping it back again. Primary school children would have known this, back in the days when education occurred in schools.
All the pumping does is help to supply the power at the time of day when it's wanted.
