  1. Thank you very much for the video on restoring the finish to your plant stand. I think it looks terrific – especially the pedestal at the bottom, but the sides and top as well. Now that I've seen you do it, it gives me the confidence to do it myself. I intend to get the Howard products tomorrow. I've watched the professional furniture restorers (John's/Johnson) on YouTube, and they are amazing, but I benefit much more from seeing an experienced amateur restorer like you doing these simple things.
P.S. How about 'Mother-in-Law's Tongue' for the plant?

  2. P.S. I'm in Vancouver, BC, Canada. There's much less vintage stuff to be found up here in this "frontier" town than down in Philly. When I go thrifting and pick up old shaped/old colour items, I often turn them upside down only to discover 'IKEA' stamped on the bottom. I'm convinced that the IKEA design department has a large art deco reference library that they are steadily working their way through!

  3. One of your best furniture makeovers…simple, clean, beautifully effective. I'm joyous at how you appreciate the aged character of older furniture & recognize the exquisite nature of wood. So many folks "whitewash" away all their troubles & are praised for the devestating results resembling 1960s hippie cool & easy funky fixed furniture. During my adult life I've restored smaller to medium furniture pieces abiding by my motto "I don't make old things look new. I enjoy making old things look good." All of us journey through life gathering our knicks, bangs, scratches…these tales behind getting our scratches & dents also set up the most fun & sometimes curious conversations. A bumpy challenging scarred life can make for the best life stories …Your channel is the best of its kind…standing alone & shining bright. All of us out here are lucky to have your channel for some of the best entertainment on the internet. Thank you.

  4. Hi Scott, I guess that you will use a Snake plant because it doesn't require a lot of watering,or moisture. It is also aesthetically correct with the pot, and stand. That print is beautiful !

  5. Lovely job restoring your stand to that beautiful warm rich appearance.! I'm betting you put a snake plant on it. It's low maintenance and keeps a nice compact width so as not to cover up the beauty of the wood and has a nice slender upright appearance which goes with the appearance of the stand. That's my guess and I hope I'm right, because to me that would be the perfect plant and shade of greens to compliment the color of the wood!!
