Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said an illegal immigrant, working under a fake ID, hit and killed a Pinellas County, Florida deputy who was providing security for a construction site. The incident was an accident, according to the sheriff, but the worker then fled the scene. He was later found not to have a driver’s license and was not licensed to drive the equipment he was using when it happened.
