Game description (from Wikipedia):
Pikmin 4 is a real-time strategy video game developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo. It is the fourth main installment of the Pikmin series, following Pikmin 3 (2013), and the sixth installment overall. It was released on the Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023.

The game is the first in the series to feature a customizable playable character. It introduces two new species of Pikmin called Ice Pikmin and Glow Pikmin, as well as new features like the Night Expeditions, in which players defend against waves of nocturnal enemies. In the story, the player assumes the role of a recently recruited member of the Rescue Corps, a group in need of rescuing following an unsuccessful attempt to save Captain Olimar.

Pikmin 4 received positive reviews from critics, who praised the game’s level design, visuals, score, amount of content, and accessibility to newcomers, while criticizing the limited multiplayer options and low difficulty.

  1. The "rat dog electric thing" that Masae keeps referring to is the Bearded Amp Rat, first introduced in Pikmin 3. It's not too difficult to take out with Yellow Pikmin but scary to pass by before you have your numbers up. Hello Mamuta, our peaceful gardener friend… oh no, you have a treasure, just like in Pikmin 1. We have to take you out T__T. Our first WOLLYWOGS appeared in this episode, and a new enemy that can hide under flowers and surprise us. Good grief that frog like thing is more trouble than it should be. Geez though, why does Oatchi freak out over those little spider things (twice in this video)? Is our loyal puppy arachnophobic?

  2. The reason you wouldn't want Reds is because there's not really any reason to have them, there's nothing that requires Red Pikmin, and from my experience, they dont actually do that much more damage than other colors. Blossoming Arcadia has more obstacles that require Yellow or Ice (hence being Recommended), so taking Reds instead of more Yellow or Ice is just giving you less pikmin to tackle things like Electric Gates, high up treasures, or freezing water.

  3. Watching Masae play Pikmin is so fun to watch. It kinda makes me sad that there's only one more Pikmin game that Masae hasn't done(that I know of?), and even then, she may not even do Pikmin 2.

  4. 0:36 Now that I think about it Mamutas had a really weird texture in the previous games which definitely didn't resemble fur, but I'd say not even stone even though I can see where Masae is coming from.
3:51 "Drodent" has a nice sound to it, but I'd say "dogent" which still sounds nice enough while being much more clear what it's a combination of.
30:29 Yep, one of the many quality of life features of Pikmin 4 and I'd say among the best of them as customization is always great!
