Final Fantasy XVI is set in the fictional world of Valisthea, a world divided between six nations who hold power through access to magical Crystals and Dominants, humans who act as hosts for each nation’s Eikon. 1. I may have some major issues with this game and its story, but this whole segment in Twin Side? No notes. The story and the explosiveness of the spectacle actually feel like they are in pace with each other. It’s so good, best moment of the game, and that’s not even taking into account how much XIV love this fight throws around.

  2. Not sure if this will ever get elaborated on in the game (im watching this LP blind) so I want to ask here: wtf is up with Anabella's "noble bloodline"? She just said here how her having a child with Sylvester would result in a person that is both blessed by Bahamut and Phoenix…. but like… where does Phoenix come from in Anabella lol? Wasn't it established in the very beginning that CliveJoshua's dad is the one with the Phoenix' blood? Their Grandfather was the eikon, then the dad didn't get the powers but still carried the bloodline and Joshua inherited that from the dad's side…. so how did the mom even come into play here? Are there multiple Phoenix bloodlines? What's going on??

  3. You know what’s crazy about Anabella? If you really listen to her crazed rant, she actually wanted to save the world in her own messed up way. She wanted to “birth a savior of the benighted land,” meaning that because she knew all she was good for was birthing dominants, she was trying to birth the strongest dominant she could so they could hopefully do something about the blight. And since bahamut is the strongest Eikon (not counting Ifrit because he’s not supposed to even exist and there’s no way anabella would know about him), she wanted to make a child that could be a combination of the strongest eikon (bahamut) and presumably one who could heal (Phoenix). And as she said, Clive was very strong in his own right but didn’t awaken and Joshua was the opposite. He awakened but wasn’t strong (cuz he was sickly). So she actually did have more to her than I think people give her credit for as a character. She still needed to die tho.

  4. I don't feel any pity towards Annabella. But seeing somebody snap that hard and do THAT. That's still unnerving. So may she rot in hell, but to anyone else who doesn't handle those moments with grace like me; please don't sit on it. Talk things out with trusted ones, do what you can to distract yourself from it, and remember that you aren't alone in this world.

That… that marks the third character I know of to use that move.

Zettaflair/Zetaflair Club in no particular order.

    1. a major Boss from Bravely Default.
    2. Donald Duck
    3. Dion

It is no surprise that the names of 2 out of 3 start with D.

  6. Man, what a great family reunion. Joshua finally gets reunited with Clive, Jill and Torgal. All four of them share a group hug while flipping off Anabella (yes, the dog flips her off, too).

Oh! And Dion is also there, dying in the background, while getting tormented by their collective halfbrother who's possessed by some dank deity.

    But hey, happy family reunion!

  7. This game is just cool for the sake of cool and I love it. Oh Joshua and Clive? Yeah they can fuses Why? Cause fuck you it’s cool! Also we’re in space now, and there’s lasers the size of asteroids, and Risen Ifrit can warp command punch, why? Fuck you it’s awesome.

  8. So she committed all those atrocities because she was… EMBARRASSED?!! Yeah, no thanks! No redemption to be had here!
It's one thing to be that deeply embarrassed by one's child for persistently bad and borderline criminal (or just outright criminal) behaviors, but when you measure them based on a trait that's beyond their control and doesn't reflect on their character whatsoever, you're not a parent. You're a trophy collector. You have children only to gain status.

Unfortunately, there are still "parents" in the real world who are like this. I, for one, am not particularly surprised that articles have been popping up in recent years about adult children who are completely estranged from their parents. Rather, I'm disappointed that it took so long for psychologists and experts from related fields to finally call out the parents for it. After many years of society denying that a parent could ever be that bad and blaming the kids who cut off contact, someone is finally telling them to press L3+R3 to accept the truth.

Relating to this topic, there's a short film here on YouTube titled "The Perfect Gooseys" that exposes the parents of such trophy children in one of the simplest, yet most elegant ways I've ever seen. Whatever you do, don't be like them!

Joshua: "The feeling is mutual. It was long overdue."

Clive: "That reminds me of something that is overdue as well."

Clive walks over to the music box and selects a song.

Clive: "I choose this song for this very special occasion."

Joshua: "Clive, that is a nice thought but not neces-"

  11. A lot of people see the big fight as a Dragonball fight, but all I could see was Gundam. You go to space, Bahumut has Funnels, tons of beam attacks as the pilots fly at high speeds, a scene of the protagonists flying through a swarm of projectiles aimed at them, Bahumut’s big glowing mana wings before Zettaflare, and etc.
