Philippine Mars Engine fails mid-flight on second attempt to fly to San Francisco

Unfortunate update for those waiting in San Fran for the Philippine Mars second attempt to fly to San Francisco. It has ended with #4 engine failing and being shut down mid flight on their route down. The aircraft did a 180 back for Sprout lake, but ended up landing in Pat Bay in BC. No further update, but will post on any new news.

  1. burning off excess fuel. But when radials sit oil collects down in the cylinders. Upon cold starts they smoke a lot usually get some heat she’ll quit smoking after burning off excess oil. I’m sure in her hay day they had problems like this. Why is she smoking . oil lines. Something cracked went age and vintage. just being woken up after a twenty year nap something taint happy. Hopefully they can fix it tighten something talk to her “come on sweet heart”. Get her back flying. Not stuck collecting dust.

  2. Big storm in SF Bay on Saturday and king tides lots of big debris floating around the sf Bay. Landing in SF Bay would need boats to make sure the water is clear of debris.

  3. She doesn’t want to leave her sister!💕

This beautiful big bird flew RIGHT OVER our house in Crofton BC at maybe 800-1000’ and all engines were running!
I’ve been on pins and needles waiting to hear how the flight went. Truly is a sad day but oh so glad they are safe.

At Pat Bay at CYYJ they are well experienced to move a MARS up the ramp, across the road and have a spot right beside her sister!😉😉
Joking aside I do hope she makes it down to San Fran but if it’s just too unsafe and has to be deemed
un-airworthy, if its too costly to transport her, she would be happy to stay with her sister.
I REALLY hope she can make it home though😢
