A great song a great movie, Rachel Ward was the leading lady that Mr. Bridges falls for.I believe why you love Phil’s voice is the emotions that he projects with great feeling!
Welcome back ladies, and Happy Mother's day to you both! 💐🥂
Phil Collins is best known as the drummer/singer of the rock band Genesis in the 70's & for his solo career. He has had so many great hits such as "Another Day In Paradise", "I Don't Care Anymore", "One More Night", "Sussudio", "Take Me Home", "Two Hearts", "A Groovy Kind Of Love", "I Wish It Would Rain Down", "You Can't Hurry Love" etc.
Phil Collins is awesome. He is one of the standout music artists of the 1980's. Phil was so diverse and could sing all different styles. While he recorded many beautiful ballads, I think "Against All Odds" is his best. Great song.
Great show .On YouTube see Phil play drums for Kate Bush on Wedding List.
I felt like I was reviewing the movie more than the song after I watched this. Never saw the movie, although it lookes interesting. The song was all over the radio then. Glad ya'll are back. Never leave us again, despite the odds.
All right ladies,……you've checked out Phil, now you need to to check out Genesis!!!!!!!! Phil took over on vocals from Peter Gabriel when he left in 1975! So many AWESOME Genesis albums to recommend!!!!!!! 'A Trick Of The Tail', 'Wind & Wuthering', '….And Then There Were Three', 'DUKE', 'Abacab', just to name a few!!!!!! You won't be disappointed!!!!!!! Cheers!!!!!
If you love Phil Collins, you should react to Genesis, Phil's former band. He was known as the singer of Genesis throughout the 70's. Genesis has the most talented musicians of almost classical music quality so their playing and writing combined with Phil's expertise legendary drumming skills and singing will be an unforgettable experience. May I recommend the 70's Genesis song, "Hold On My Heart". It's nice, mellow, melodic. Then you can move on to other Genesis songs such as "Follow You Follow Me", etc. Keep in mind, all the drums you hear in Genesis songs are played by Phil.
Please do more Phil Collins and Billy Ocean.
Hi Ladies, This movie has one o the best bitter-sweet endings ever.
Just to remind you.
She kills the gangster husband but the head gangster covers it up.
The catch is,,, if Jeff Bridges meets Rachel Ward again, she goes to prison
So they are in love but can never meet again.
Phil owned the 80s
It has been nearly 40 years since I have seen this so my memory may be sketchy BUT
this was one of just a handful of videos we had on our 3 month trip on an aircraft carrier so we watched it MANY times.
think your ok without the pause…..phil has the common sense to realise your promoting his music and doesn't tend to block, …..unlike the eagles
I agree that Phil Collins has a very distinct voice. Love his music. Speaking of unique artists please can “daughter “ react to Peter Gabriel ( also ironically part of genesis in the 70’s) with Kate bush on the song “Don’t give up”. I think she’ll be blown away yet again by Kate.😊
If you love Jeff Bridges, I highly recommend the movie "Sea Biscuit" a true story that his highly accurate. You both will love it.
I remember really liking this song back in the day. You’re right. Nobody has a voice like Phil Collins. It’s incredible to think he didn’t set out to sing when he embarked on his music career. He was the drummer for Genesis. When Peter Gabriel left, Phil stepped up as the lead singer. He’s phenomenal.
I had the hots for Rachel Ward as a 15 year old boy😂
This man's voice never fails to give me chills!!!
A once in a lifetime artist and I hope channels like yours will continue to react to his music so a whole new audience can experience his greatness!!
great reaction! I always adored "Home by the sea"
Just have her watch the movie. It's worth the time.
Collins is one of only three musicians/singers etc. in music history to have sold over 100 million albums both a solo artist and as a principal member of a band. The other two are Michael Jackson (The Jackson Five) and Paul McCartney (The Beatles). Also, when all of his work is totalled as a solo artist, member of Genesis, record producer, duets/collaborations with other artists, Collins spent more time in the US Top 40 than any other recording artist.
Also, while in Genesis he played four consecutive sell-out nights at the 80,000-capacity Wembley Stadium in July 1987, which was a record at the time.
Great song. Never saw the movie. Why in the world would a man send a much more handsome man to find a woman? It's like sending a serial arsonist into an gasoline depot to check for leaks.
" Against All Odds " was a beautiflully filmed movie. It was filmed partially in the spectacular Mexican locations in Yucatan and Quintana Roo in Mexico included the colorful resort island of Cozumel; a fishing village on the picturesque island of Isla Mujures off the coast of Cancun; Tulum, the Mayan-Toltec ruins overlooking the Caribbean; and the famous ruins of Chichen Itza. Travel agents could have used parts of this movie to promote tourism to that area. The song is both beautiful and melancholy at the same time. Thanks for reacting to this track. Great job. Take care.
I also love the movie. And always felt this was my favorite Collins song. So heartfelt. Younger gal was almost in tears from this.
Its so frightening to realise this record was release back in 1984, time quickly passes! I was only 14 years old, but this song resonated quickly with me. You guys are correct, its a break-up song. Phil Collins was my go to singer, especially when I listened to his album No Jack Required…may have to dust that album off again (sigh)
The undeniable dulcet tones of Phil Collins. I just about remember this film and thanks to MG for naming all the actors because I couldn't remember them.😊 Have a good weekend ladies 🥰
This is a PERFECT pop song. It sounds as good today as the day it was released.
Hi guys!!! It is a wonderful, powerful song. I barely remember the movie, but it is a cautionary tale about falling for the wrong person. Love Phil Collins.
Good song, good movie,,, Enjoy, try "Romancing the Stone" and sequel "Jewel of the Nile"
This movie was a mess from start to finish albeit fairly well done. The song is excruciatingly sad especially when watched in the movie at the end. The one thing that is important is that, it is not from the man's point of view but it is the woman who is talking and asking the questions in the song. He's walking away from her. Keep playing the good ones, Gap Girls. BTW, I have the 45.
Not really a 'great' movie (an OK movie), but the ending with this song was worth the price of admission. Phil Collins was on fire in the Eighties…
I don't remember my mom/dad showing me this movie or song. It's a tremendous performance. Fun fact: Phil Collins is the father of actress Lily Collins, who you might know as the title character from Netflix's "Emily In Paris."
Phil Collins is one of the greats. Thank you again for great reaction.
Omg, i think this is my all time fav sing!! Yes the movie was really great!! Rachel Ward…hott…and Jeff.
Phil's best solo, apart from maybe in the air tonight, probably because he is one of the worlds best drummers
Funnily enough, I only remember the beautiful Rachel Ward!
11:20 I think the musical term Baby Gap is looking for here is CRESCENDO.
Against All Odds was a remake of a very good 1947 film, Out Of The Past starring Robert Mitchum, Kirk Douglas and Jane Greer. Yes, the latter did have Jeff Bridges, James Woods, Rachel Ward and Jane Greer again along with this excellent Phil Collins song. Phil Collins was an audience member in The Beatles 1964 film, A Hard Day's Night. 🙂
There's an amazing live version of this out there. I think it's at Live Aid. It's just Phil on the piano. MAGNIFICENT.
There's so many of his songs that go unnoticed, particularly those from the 90's and 00's. They weren't that commercially recognised, but were as good as those from the 80's. If you like the songs from the Tarzan, there's no reason why you wouldn't like songs like, 'Lorenzo', 'You Touch My Heart', 'The Same Moon', 'Everyday', 'There's A Place For Us', as examples.
Such a hot, powerful, manly voice!
His vocals convey a strong sense of urgent pleading in this song 🥺 and seeing Rachel Ward, it's understandable
Fantastic song! 😍
I remember this song in 1984 after a breakup. Sad times for sure.
Speaking about Disney's cartoon movies – please pay attention to Disney's Fantasia (if you haven't done that so far); while being made as long ago as 1940, it is still a breathtaking feast of color, style and imagination being put to some pieces of the finest popular classical music, thus being a sort of a forerunner to the latter day musical videos – and a very masterful one at that!
My favourite PC song is just an album track, & one that most people have never even heard!
It's called 'Why can't it wait till morning', & it's one of the great break-up/love songs I've ever heard, & I've heard a LOT of songs, & singers, in my 61 years!
Check it out, but keep a tissue handy, cos there will be tears! 😭
You too have heard of James Woods, he was the voice of 'Hades' in the animated "Hercules" (1997)
