one of my favorite performances by him. even with the little mistake. keep in mind Phil is a drummer, who did not want to be a lead singer – let alone a solo act. I'm so glad he took the leap of faith
Phil Collins is amazing. I’m not sure if you have reacted to “I wish it would rain down”. But that’s my personal favourite song, that and “Separate Lives”. Should check them both out if you haven’t already! Enjoy x
His voice is lovely. I always loved his song contributions to Genesis. "More Fool Me" and "To Absent Friends". It was just an itty bitty slip, it wasn't even out of place in the song. My piano teacher told me "you make a mistake, keep going! Don't stop!" It's hard to do.
1:51 – In his biography 'Not Dead Yet', Phil writes that he was feeling so, so embarrassed for that boo-boo he'd done on the piano, which was caused by the hot weather making him sweat profusely and even his hands.
The studio version did have drums and other instruments come in after the first verse that builds the song into an emotional intensity that can't be captured here. But this solo performance is magnificent.
Great voice different voice I've always loved 80s music 70s music 60s music 50s music I just always loved old music doesn't matter what John or it is country pop R&B it just always hit me

I love Phil Collins so much. You can’t talk about 80’s music without talking about him. Fantastic songwriter, fantastic singer, just so talented.
Love that song
Talk to the hat black soul man!

I think the year was 1986. I might be out by a year.

1:53 Love the look of disgust on his face when he fluffs a note. A true professional is our Phil.

By the way, the studio version has a full band playing, with Phil on drums and (presumably) piano, and it also has strings in it.
Phil is great .
I hope he is remembered for all he’s done .

Phil Collins actually performed in London and then took the Concorde back to Kennedy and helicopter to Philadelphia to be in both parts of the show.
Phil Collins is a musical genius.
goosebumps
Fun fact…. Phil Collins cannot read or write music notes
