A samurai sword would be the worst weapon for a zombie apocalypse first of all it's heavy af, requires a tremendous amount of strength to lop off a human head, after a dozen swings you will be exhausted than you have to carry this heavy clumsy thing around every where you go.

Doesn’t japan have like 3 million registered swords? I wonder how many people own swords, probably like 12 million worldwide then. But also have to factor in machetes which are fairly common in agricultural work, which would boost that number a lot higher. Also sledge hammers and metal baseball bats would be pretty good, and a spear would be fairly easy to make from a shovel with a pointy tip attached, and also adds are another common work tool.
