  1. Both Ditka and Buddy in all honesty took pride in being assholes. That’s just a fact. The only thing is with Buddy you could win him over once you met the standard and accepted his authority. I really don’t like guys like that who are that hard assed but that was his military background. And Ditka could be a snake and say one thing to your face and then do another behind your back. So it’s hard to think you’re gonna have long term success with two extreme personalities like that. A guy like Parcells as an example yeah he was a hard ass but he could also step outside himself objectively and be a more cerebral approach in dealing with certain players. Same thing with Jimmy Johnson. Ditka and Buddy not so much. It’s so funny how you can be a genius like Buddy schematically but yet intellectually just not get it.
