Charles Eisenstein is an American author and public speaker who examines the unspoken narratives that direct our society and our lives. His work covers a wide range of topics, including the history of human civilization, economics, spirituality, and the ecology movement. Key themes explored include anti-consumerism, interdependence, and how myth and narrative influence culture.
Eisenstein graduated from Yale University with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy. He lived in Taiwan for nine years, where he became fluent in Mandarin Chinese and worked as a translator. He married there, had children, and later returned to the United States. The Ascent of Humanity, which was published in 2007, became his first commercially successful book, launching his writing career. Eisenstein has since written many books including The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible and Sacred Economics.
His newest book, The Coronation, In The Coronation, social philosopher Charles Eisenstein presents key building blocks of post-Covid sense-making. These unforgettable essays narrate the disintegration of an old normal, and old reality, even, Eisenstein says, an old mythology. Controversial when they first appeared, these essays—with new introductions to each by the author—ring with relevancy as the charge dissipates from previously hot-button issues. Now, as we survey the post-Covid landscape, we have the opportunity to build something more sound, more whole, and more sane.
Please enjoy my conversation with Charles Eisenstein.

Forgiveness is necessary for our own healing. But that is something completely different than holding someone accountable for crimes against humanity. You can forgive those that are harming others, but still hold them accountable for their choices. That is not ego. Thank you Alex for your channel! ❤
Alex, do you do this podcast in a freezer? You dress like you are freezing.
I was captivated by this interview. Thank you so much.💕
Thank you!!! Liking!!!
Btw for those on the East Coast dealing with poor air quality right now, I will share what I did when we were dealing with that from CA fires: Put some distilled water in a pot on the stove and add a good amount of epsom salt to it. Boil for a while (watching carefully so you can add water if/as needed). I'm not sure there are any studies on this, but it did clear our air (in our home with the windows closed). We never needed to invest in an electric air filter using this. (Btw I am a 100% sober individual since 2012 in case anyone is wondering lol. I even switched to decaff coffee in the last year or so.) Every time I would put the pot away, another fire would happen, so I've kept in on the stove lol. I now just keep the distilled water and eposom salt in it, not boiling it but letting it evaporate slowly. But it's ready to boil too if I need to take stronger action.
17:13 Is there any remover of difficulties save God? Say: praised be God, He is God, all are His servants, and all abide by His biding. ~The Bab (1819-1850)
Another great interview!! As someone who has spent a lot of time exploring and healing my own consciousness, inner separation is not taught, as you mentioned about 20 minutes or so into the interview. We are designed (programmed) for it, otherwise we wouldn’t know ourselves as independent human beings… which is a massive part of incarnation. We are not taught to fear death, it becomes automatically wired into us at around 6-8 years old as part of our biological maturation. And yes, we can revisit and heal all sorts of inner separation. (Based on my experiences). Yes, our souls choose certain experiences that truly suck to give us opportunities to grow and expand. 🙋🏻 ❤️🙏🏻
If you clam you're doing God's work, then you are not doing God's work.
I love this!
I cannot even put into words how much this interview has spoken to me. He talked about things that I have thought about but haven’t really heard anyone address until now. Thank you so much, from the deepest part of me. ❤
We are all intelligent algorithms. If we take away avatars and names, all that’s left is a beautiful dance of alchemy in and out with different energies… divinely orchestrated in its “perfection” by our higher selves. Choice is just another way of the ego trying to stay relevant (all built into the algorithm). 🦋
I don't understand how with amazing fundraisers like this one how in the world is a child dying of starvation in our country. Someone needs to be starting something. 😢
Hehe
🕊💗💫
I love living in a "greater reality," life is to much more exquisite from within this greater reality. And, every time any of us lives from within this greater reality, it gives "permission" for others to do the same and not feel like an outlier; to instead, feel seen, heard, understood and welcomed. I don't find mystical experiences to be uncomfortable at all, I cherish them, and in doing so bring more of them into this physical realm. Thank you Alex for this interview, and Charles for your always insightful words and energy.
Regarding the Heroine’s Journey (58:00)
1) “Heroine with a 1001 Faces” by Maria Tatar. She’s also written extensively on the feminine in European folktales.
2. “The Heroine’s Journey” by mythologist Maureen Murdock.
Pontius Pilate took some water and washed his hands of the crucifiction of Jesus. He said to the crowd "I am innocent of this man's blood; see to it yourselves" A lot of people have it wrong. Look it up for yourself.
Misleading title.
Omg I love him❤❤❤
Слава богу, уже и англоязычные просыпаются.
People so afraid because this system is not for a human beings. Just to live in community where you can create a life for people around you will make us happy.
Great interview, please could I just say that Tree's don't compete with each other, they actually HELP each other through passing nutrients through the fungi at their roots 😀
Because the rk church firmly strictly forbade investigations or believe in 'supernatural' phenomena. The rk church was the first global power which seeked to control all people, enslave them by taking all wealth, all art, all knowledge. The old belief-systems were thoroughly destroyed (they were not quite positive for all too), and the peoples ridiculised (the Picts in the uk). And the rk church succeeded by seeding fear.
NO! Fight back.
Join 'my heritage' and you find you, your family, your relatives are all connected, with peoples all over the world from ancient times uptil now; not in one way but in several even many ways. We really are one big family.
I love this bright, intelligent, technically, focused conversation. One of the most intellectually narrowed REAL conversations that unapologetically incorporates the full picture of “everything”!
I don’t even have the words to express the joy of being a full participant in this thinking and relief that others are there too!! I’m not alone!!😅
Forgiveness example someone killed your loved one, you can and I've see it forgive, doesn't mean they walk free, until man can heal someone like Jack the ripper. You do the crime you do the time.
The word God was fed to us an external judgemental force, not something of which we are part: hence people refer to univeral spirit, source etc. Also, the 'God' that spoke to Moses in the Holy of Holies was not all knowing or compassionate!
Margaret Mead:
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has."
There is a choice. Indeed. We have a choice.
Looking to how it goes on this world, it seems we have made a not so good choice.
Or is it impossible to make a better choice (as a collective), as this earth seems a planet of and for experiences in duality and "bad needs good as good needs bad" to have a concrete definition..
Profound, calm and gentle, to say the least… Deep gratitude for your loving and authentic sharing, Charles! It's so heart-warming and empowering!
Love and blessings to you both. Namasté! 👍🙏😍
Love this! I became “mad” after my husband died! I experienced beautiful unexplained events, I could not not be quiet, I needed to share them with family and friends! I am still talking about them because they were more real to me and beautiful! 🙏🙏🙏😇
uk never say God unless it’s 😳 omg
