  1. I was surprised that you didn’t pick Brightline west starting as the top sorry but Caltrain electrifying makes sense- for the month, I’d think the proposed senate bill would be the top story this month rather than the via rail coaches.

  2. My personal thesis on why NS went with the TAG unit is because the unit need to be painted quickly and as the D and H paint scheme is more complicated to apply, they choose the simpler TAG scheme.

  3. One thing that is concerning about Caltrain’s electrification is the fact that it seems to be the last major regional rail/electrification project in the US for the foreseeable future… it’s very disheartening that there are no other major commuter rail modernization projects that are underway or planned… even the few that have considered electrification (ie MBTA, UTA) don’t really have firm plans in motion yet or are fixated on silly and unproven battery tech…

  4. 10:22 just wanna clear something up, double stack containers can fit under overhead wires.. you can see this happen very very often in norristown pa where NS operates double stack under Septa wire. UP simply doesn’t want electrification due to the fact that they’d be the ones to take care of it since it’s on their property.

  5. 0:55 Technically 22 because most forget the existence of NS 1700. The real reason why NS went with the TAG instead of D&H is plain as day, they did what CPKC did and thats by the votes of Norfolk Southern Employees! Not the general public or railfans who supposedly voted. Otherwise its just another choo choo in a cool paint scheme. This video is BALLIN, Lovely work 👏

  6. Okay buddy, usually it put on hold due to Double stack Intermodel freight not fitting under the wire 10:19 , that’s not the case, look it up on Double stack Intermodel cars under the wires, they seem to be fine under the wires often in Philadelphia area, the REASON why Caltrain can’t extend wire down south yet is that Union Pacific owns the track and not really cool with Passenger rail authority, and again having “excuses” for Double stacks Intermodel, and also because Class ones don’t have proper schedules, so they don’t like dealing their schedules.

  7. 6:46 I personally want Amtrak to also purchase some of those cars for their single level long distance order, since the dome cars could be great for routes like the Cardinal, where it's a single level route, but still travels through beautiful scenery.

  8. As always, I found this quite an informative video! Now, I know about Norfolk Southern's TAG heritage unit (I never even heard of the TAG before), several new rail vehicles, the opening of the metro line in Ho Chi Minh City, the Phase VII Viewliner (I was wondering how it would look on the older passenger cars, and I like it), and even Via Rail's proposed new cars (I look forward to seeing them built).

Thanks for the video, and Happy New Year!
