‘Pathetic’: Australia not sending warship to the Red Sea will be ‘noticed in Washington’

Former Labor MP Michael Danby says it is “pathetic” that Australia can’t send a warship to the Red Sea to protect the American fleet.

Mr Danby told Sky News Senior Reporter Caroline Marcus that it will be “noticed in Washington”.

“And I’m afraid it will be noticed … by Donald Trump and his advisors who might double the price of the nuclear submarines to Australia or say ‘we’re not going to deliver them at all’.

“I think Trump is going to be elected, and he was pretty tough with NATO.

“I hope Albo and Kevin Rudd should be giving him some better advice as to get on his good side.”

  1. The voters' of Australia have spoken with the election of the PM. Australia is now aligned with China for either good or bad. America needs to step-back from Australia as well as many other countries and do what needs to be done at home first. I do believe that this decision not to assist in stopping these maritime attacks was made for the Australian people by China. Perhaps next a decision not to… may be dictated by… I speak to Australians living in America and they tell me this, Australia is now…, not good in their perspective! 😮

  2. Why send a ship if they are trying to grow organically? Flog out the troops. Get off it sky news. The Navy will be ready for China. Don’t need to send ships all the way up there to blow up speed boats. Other countries are much closer logistically. Morons

  3. One can ony hope there is a time we don't have to make news stories worried with 'noticed in Washington', but that time is not now. I agree we should have sent a ship, but the United States is, currently, neither a lucid nor credible country is it?

It is an essential element to belligerent countries that their is a coalition of allies willing to meet an emergency, it is not about enhancing military power it is about telling the worl were are unified, this does NOT send that message..united we stand a chance of extending peace this century………..divided we all burn……..ALBENESE IS WRONG!
