Pasay Monorail Project Update

After two years the edsa taft avenue in pasay city still has no progress on the proposed monorail project.

Conglomerate SM Group has signed a deal to construct an integrated monorail system in Pasay City in 2021.The company is seeking to build a monorail connecting the corner of EDSA and Taft Avenue to Diokno Boulevard as well as extend the EDSA-Tramo Flyover.

The project will be integrated and will be interoperable with several modes of transport, including LRT-1, MRT-3, EDSA Busway, and EDSA Greenways, according to the DOTr.

The project is seen to ease traffic choke points along Taft Avenue and Diokno Boulevard.

This project is a partnership between the DOTr, city government of Pasay, and SM Prime Holdings.

The MOA signing was led by Tugade and Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano.The proposed Integrated Pasay Monorail and Edsa-Tramo flyover extension project.

The Pasay City government and the SM Prime Holdings made a joint presentation on the project to the DOTr

The Pasay Monorail will provide seamless connectivity to and from the MOA Complex making it the most connected intra-city in Metro Manila and furthering the increase of residential land values by as much as Two-Fold.

SM Prime Holdings’ proposed 1.89-kilometer monorail and EDSA-Tramo flyover extension project got a boost with the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Pasay city government on Sept 22.

The monorail project will provide easy access to the Bay Area, Pasay City’s central business district, connecting the corner of EDSA and Taft Avenue to Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City.

The project is designed to decongest traffic and offer seamless travel of commuters.

The project’s components and timetable were jointly presented by SM Prime Holdings and the Pasay local government to the department of transportation.

The project will be issued an operating franchise by DOTr but will not enjoy exclusivity for “any corridor vis-a-vis other transportation projects.”

DOTr will share in the monorail’s fare revenues set at 1 percent for P15 and below, 2 percent for rates above P15 up to P30, and 3 percent for rates above P30.

In addition, the FOTr will have a 2 percent share in gross non-farebox revenues or earnings made outside passenger rides.

  1. Natuwa ako nung una kung marinig ang dalawang monorail na yan,dahil mappadali ang pag punta sa dalawang Lugar na yan,lalo na Senior na ako atnakkalungkot na walang nangyyari.

  2. Since the project will mostly benefit only one commercial establishment, mahirap ma approve yan ng gobyerno.
    The only way that project will move forward is if SM itself will underwrite all expenses under the build, operate, transfer scheme.
    Building a monorail is very expensive so I doubt that the project is a priority for SM.

  3. Sana talagang hindi na matuloy. Mas reasonable na i extend na lang ang MRT 3. May Train na, may repair & maintence facility at hindi na lilipat ang pasahero. Tutal si SM makikinabang, sila ang gumastos sa MOA Station, na pwede sa loob na rin ng SM.

  4. Yung connection sa PITX, gawan na lng sana sarili line, dadaan sa may Okada, MOA, CCP at Quirino LRT 1 Station. Kapag operational na mga reclaimed Business Centers – dadami tao diyan.

  5. Dapat kc i elevate na lang ung existing mrt edsa taft station tapos ituloy hanggang gilid ng sm moa arena para naman tuloy2x sa bagong reclamation sa harapan ng moa for future extension

Dito sa Bangkok, Thailand🇹🇭 sobrang behind na Ang pinas🇵🇭 o sa Metro Manila compare Dito sa City of Bangkok or Metropolitan Bangkok kompleto na s MGA railways…BTS lite Green Skytrain 48 Stations, BTS Skytrain Dark Green 13 Stations, MRT Subway Dark Blue 37 Stations, Airport Link Red Line 12 Stations, SRT Transit Red Line, SRT lite Red Line, MRT Monorails, Pink, Yellow, Grey, MRT Railways Orange, Brown, APM Gold Line, State Railway of Thailand this is all tapos Yung monorails malapit na magoperate..Yung iba under construction d ko pa nabanggit at ang bilis matapos ang construction nila almost 14 to 15 railways Sila Dito sa Thailand Kya sana ma complete narin ang pinas especially in Metropolitan Manila.

  7. NANINIWALA ako na it will only benefit SM MOA explanation ng gobyerno kung sino man mga ito… kasi papasok ulit corruptiion dito.. PAPAANO naman kami? kami mag approve .. kikita ang SM kami wala.
    HOW ABOUT THE CONVENIENCE OF THE RIDING PUBLIC.. like Duterte have said bakit ninyo pinahihirapan ang kababayan ninyo.. simple answer.. your guess is correct.
    dapat maki alam na si BBM dito or SENADO.. INQUIRY bakit ano problema dito.. pinahihirapan ang mga tao.. investigation.. good project ito na delay. imbest ayusin pinatatagal… corruption agad maisip ng tao.. pag si Duterte ito may makakasuhan na opisyal ng gobyerno.. EXPLAIN in 72 hours why no criminal.or administrative action to be filed against you or explain how you can facilitate the immediate construction.

  8. tutal halos sa SM naman na yung buong reclamation area bakit hindi na lang mag pagawa ng train system ang SM around reclamation area? then mag lagay sila ng Loop sa MRT3, Subway and LRT. Jusko napaka yaman ng SM. wag puro Mall and Condo. tumulong din sana sila sa transportation system

  9. For me i-extend nalang ang MRT but this time naka sub na sya sa ilalim ng lupa para di namaka affect sa mga infrastructural sa itaas at di na maalis yung iconic globe sa MOA

    sana ganyan kaganda hindi yun parang bodega ang design like MRT 7 ,YUN DESIGN yun sa drawing napaka ganda pag dating sa final execution wala parang LRT 1 lang din

  11. Pwedeng change of plans Ang ngyari another option is I extend Ang MRT 3 and find ways na magkaroon Ng MRT station within MOA . Mas practical in the long run , , challenge lng Ang structural integrity pag nagtayo Ng MRT station sa MOA knowing dating part Ng Manila Bay Yan.
