Part 2! Speed Paint your Solar Auxilia infantry! #legionsimperialis

#tabletopgaming #warhammer #solarauxilia

It’s part 2 of the Solar Auxilia tutorial! This time we’re looking at the infantry and again I need to stress how tiny these guys are-you don’t need to spend much time on them at all! Contrast paints and a wash are all you really need once you stand back from them at a table! I also included my basing tutorial for those who might not have watched the Imperial First Legions Imperialis tutorial I did! Glad you’re enjoying these speed painting Legion Imperialis videos and let me know what you’re like to see soon!
Thanks @officialwarhammer for sending me the kits to get these tutorials out for you!

  1. Very nice, I'm quite taken with the yellow & silver look of these I might well have to nab that for my Auxilia. Definitely think some blue on those axes, maybe some bronze/copper on the flamers, would be a good next step to make those stand out. You're absolutely right that the poses mean they do seem to blend in with the generic lasgun mooks, so some colour variation seems essential.

  2. Really enjoying these videos! And thanks for repeating the Nuln Oil you use, as someone who buys shades by the fistful, I still have a fair number of the original Nuln Oil around that I use for other projects, so the reminder is most welcome!

  3. They look awesome, nice work. I might prime with zandri dust spray and use creed camo contrast on the armour to make them look like 40K Cadians since I’m so lost on what solar aux should look like lol

  4. The infantry do seem to be the big sticking point from what I've seen, so looking forward to your in depth thoughts. Planning on picking up a box of the solar aux to see for myself, already have a bunch of 3d printed epic stuff for marines, interested to see how well they'll scale.

  5. Amazing, I really was having trouble trying to figure out how to paint the Solar Auxilia, now i have a good plan!
When you going to get to thousand Sons? would love to see how you do them up!

  6. I think they look great but as I'll be doing in smaller quantities over a longer period due to bufget/ release schedule, I plan to go a bit more in depth. Also because its a nuce way for me to relax 😃

  7. I think your spot on saying they are basically counters, people always shy away from labouring on termagaunts because you remove them in handfuls, well GW have made several references to the fact titans can lay waste to entire battalions each turn, so I think personally, that the attrition rate of infantry in “epic” is gonna make gaunts look like terminators lol.

  8. I’m on a budget of buying a box a month, so going to take the time to do them detailed. Otherwise, I’ll just be twiddling my thumbs between purchases. Doubt I’ll break the game by doing this like you’re suggesting

  9. I hope this helps translate to Solar Auxilia being brought to HH 2.0 in plastic. Kitbashing is fun but sometimes official looking minis are just a little bit better
    Great video as always Andy
