Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door – Episode 9: Rock 'Em Like a Hurricane

In today’s episode of the “Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door” playthrough, we fight the Shadows Sirens, recover Flurrie’s necklace, get her as our next party member, enter the Great Tree, and learn that nearly every Puni has been captured by the X-Nauts.

We backtrack over to the Shadow Sirens in order to retrieve Flurrie’s necklace, only for them to find the poster that they needed to recognize Mario as soon as we reach them. As such, if we want to get that necklace back, we’re going to have to do it the hard way with a good, old-fashion fight.

If you aren’t interested in tattling the Shadow Sirens, I highly suggest using Koops for this fight since his power shell is a great way to dish out damage to all three of them- especially if you chose to upgrade him instead of Goombella. With a full-power Earth Tremor and an upgraded power shell, you can defeat Beldam in a single turn while nearly wiping out Marilyn and Vivian’s health. From there, just do a standard jump attack on Vivian and a regular attack from Koops on Marilyn and you’ll win the fight in two turns.

Nevertheless, we’ve won the fight and can return the necklace to Flurrie, prompting her to show Mario a bit too much appreciation before joining our party, allowing us to blow away the barrier blocking the secret entrance to the Great Tree and enter it. Though unfortunately for Punio, pretty much everyone he knows and loves has been captured by the X-Nauts, so it’s up to us to rescue them all and set things right.
