In this video I’ll present to you one way of painting the PERFECT 1st wash in watercolor!

This isn’t as much of a technique, as it is about perceiving the subject matter, AND using TONS of water 😉

Hope you enjoy this one!

  1. So simple yet so impressive! They way you just put a few strokes and let the water do it’s thing is magical. (But I know that comes from painting and painting and painting). Thank you for this great video. Oh and I was at the book store yesterday and looked through a watercolor magazine. Guess what jumped off the page as I flipped through? Your name and many of your paintings. ❤ A full interview with you (6 pages!) Had to buy it! I’m gonna check out your website. Not sure you ship to the US.
    Many blessings to you.

  2. I am painting a picture in my art class and a quarter sheet and the painting itself is making me very happy. I am terrified to paint the dark multicolored background because because I am afraid of not working fast enough to avoid hard edges, especially when I have to take my time painting around the subject. So far I am struggling with wet on wet to make certain the paper doesn't dry. I watch every single one of your videos and learn a tremendous amount and even share them with my classmates and teacher.

  3. Enjoyed this one from start to finish, Liron. Now that I'm using cotton paper more and more, I can approach painting in terms of layered washes with far more confidence than when I was primarily using cellulose paper (where multiple layered washes are so difficult). I'm a long way from being able to create the effects that flow so readily from your brushes, but videos like this one definitely help me to slowly get closer and closer to being able to lay down first (and subsequent) washes with increasing confidence. Thanks for all you contribute to this community of aspiring painters and, once again, please remain safe friend – Brian.
