Painful RITES of PASSAGE with the MURSI TRIBE

Living in the Lower Omo Valley, this area has undergone a lot of pressure over the years.

In this video we cover ourselves in a bit of cow dung and scars. We dive deep into Mursi culture and talk about rites of passage, the ethics of lip plates, arranged marriage, and whether this is the most dangerous tribe in the Africa

  1. seeing the culture and just the environment they live in i feel so jealous. i wish i didnt live in a barely walkable place surrounded with cement, i want to step outside and have everything be grass plants and trees and fields for once

  2. One thing I love about these tribes is they’re not afraid of nudity, it’s not weird, it’s not gross. It’s just your body. I wish more people had that view I wish more people would just see your body as your body and not inherently sexual when you’re not being sexual. I find it beautiful.

  4. That journey through the sorghum field not knowing where we were going just following a beautiful girl beckoning us "come.. come here.." was absolutely fucking magical. Most beautiful thing I've ever seen on film.

  5. I think i would bring gifts when visiting new people… Little things would mean alot to them… Everyone find things neat that come from far away… And exchanging gifts goes along way to making new friends… Im a rock nerd so i get a few everyplace i go to… Its cool to me to have a little piece of a place i visited…i would deff want a scar done by a tribe member.. Super neat story for the rest of your life

  6. The lip plates they wear are because men like them.
I'm personally glad that some of these tribes are letting the young women choose now.
Painful traditions may seem facinating but in no place in the world should men be making choices for women. thats not a tradition worth carrying on.
