Padre Pio: Consecrated Host Mid-Air! โ Reverence
The following story was told by Father Alessio and he says, May I tell you that in 1959, I was appointed the Sacristan by the superior of the Convent of Our Lady of Grace.
And at that time, Padre Pio used to celebrate holy mass at 5:00 AM in the morning. People used to arrive from even earlier. And holy communion, he says, was not given out during the mass, but only later, directly after the mass. So Alessio continues, as soon as Padre Pio arrived back at the sacristy after the mass, then he went out to distribute Holy Communion. And he says there were many people in the church that the great ciborium, that is the silver cup in which the communion host were kept, it quickly emptied.
So he went up to the altar and began to cleanse the cup. And he says, after removing the small particles, I poured some water in and I washed it well, and then I dried it off. So the ciborium, or cup was now completely clean. And he says he had just finished and was about to place the lid onto the cup, onto the ciborium, when I noticed something on my right sideโฆ.

Of course the Altar is the centre of the Church because that is where Christ is in the Divine Sacrament, so as Christ is there so is the whole host of heaven, the Father, The Holy Spirit, Our Lady, all the angels and saints. Literally Heaven on Earth, we donยดt see it because we are spiritually so blind, deaf and dumb. That is why we approach God as if we were collected a sandwich off a table at picnic. We need to treat Mass with the dignity, respect and cult that God deserves, Padre Pio had the eyes and ears of the spirit which is why he lived Our Lordยดs Passion and Glory on Earth and all these things were visible and audible to him.
