The group eventually found the edge of the forest and emerged onto a plateau high above the valley. The Säbelzahn mountain range lay before them. A seemingly impenetrable mass of rock and knife-edged peaks. It became clear that attempting to traverse these treacherous heights would prove fatal. The tunnel was the only option. To find the entrance would be a challenge in itself, to venture through it could prove far worse. Delicate snowflakes filled the air, a solemn reminder of the declining weather. Within a month, it would be impossible to cross the border into the northlands. As a chill breeze whispered across the clearing, the party huddled together. For now they rested, gazing in awe at the view before them.
