  1. Guy Gavriel Kay is one of my favorite authors! The Summer Tree isn't like most of his others though, I'm always interested to see how people like it. Most of his books are like Historical Fantasy but in an alternate world, whereas the Fionavar Tapestry series is more classic Tolkienesque fantasy (with some VERY weird elements).

Also I haven't read The Broken Sword by Anderson yet but everyone always says it's one of the best Fantasy books out there

  3. As soon as you held up the first Fantasy novel by John Crowley, I knew there would be a Little, Big! There was no way all that Crowley SF and Fantasy was going to be there…and no Little, Big. I’m so happy for you. All Crowley is worth reading, but it would have broke my heart if you didn’t have Little, Big handy.

Erewhon is worth reading, good call keeping that.

I loved The Magus by Fowles. Recommended, memorable reading experience.

  4. damn, the cover of The Zanzibar Cat looks really cool. And that copy of viriconium nights is a great find, definitely more than 30$ if it's in good condition. But I recommend reading the viriconium series before selling it.

  5. M John Harrison is a friend and protege of Michael Moorcock. Viriconium is a huge city in the far far future. I had the fantasy masterwoks omnibus, but never completed it and then gave it away in a clearing. 🙁

  6. David Drake wrote a lot of great horror short stories. One interesting fantasy collection he wrote is called Old Nathan, themed around the title character, a backwoodsman who talks with animals.

Ian Banks' first novel is non-supernatural horror — The Wasp Factory, which is a doozy.

Little, Big was originally published in 1981. In 1983, Thomas M. Disch published in Twilight Zone Magazine a list entitled "13 Great Works of Fantasy from the last 13 Years." It includes Joanna Russ's Alyx and a lot of other interesting works. He includes Little, Big and writes, "The best fantasy novel ever. Period." (I haven't read it yet.)

Drat. Just like me I think you have the entire run of the early Elric paperbacks except for the first one, which I would have bid on.

I spent the entire time listing while listening to you.

Thanks for another great review of your haul!

  7. Is Crowley a fantasy writer? I suppose so. The Great Work of Time is my personal favourite time travel stories of all time (I like the ones where it turns out to be nonsense). Is sword & sorcery (Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser) fantasy? I think so, but others would disagree. I feel for your difficulties in distinguishing these. The Banks novel is a good example. The protagonist is on a planet of medieval level technology, but she's watched over by a dimension shifting AI!

And yes, it is the same Disch. The same guy who wrote the Little Toaster!

  8. Hi, I just found your channel, I love book hauls by the way especially when they are fantasy and scifi so definitly love to stay till the end of the video. As these are my favorite gernes to read. I always like to see if there are any books or authors that I haven't read yet in the haul. I just rediscovered the D&D novels, I just finished Dragons of Autumn Twilight (Dragonlance Chronicles, Volume I) and started Pool of Radiance last night! The Dragon lance book was excellent, with all the characters being well written and likeable! So you know Baldur's gate 3 is why the reason why I bought the ps5. Anyway I was not aware of Willow, Princess Bride and Abraham Lincoln were books. I thought they were just fun movies! So now I will have to pick these up when I see them again!
