Great video. I totally agree with you. People want a Bambu but they even do not know the other one. I still using my wonderful CR10V2 which works very well and also my 2 Prusa MK3S+. I have a bambuLab A1: Do I like it? Not so much so so many reason. Thanks for sharing your view to the community.
Sovol SV08 works great for me. However not as replacement but more as addition. I have X1C and A1 mini. Got SV08 half a year ago, at the moment Bambu doesen't have anything like this in their lineup. Note: I didn't have any issues with SV08, except setup took a while. Not for beginners.
I like to buy a Prusa printer but it's going to be a challenge without a local repair shop to help me certain things if I can't get it done. There's a Makerlab local store to where I live and it's also a repair center too so I just stick to non-Prusa brands to purchase known printers and I can just send the printer to the store if something's gone wrong without the frustration of nobody to help me. I simply need stores that support Prusa though. Philippines is turning to upper-middle class now so I appreciate if Prusa would add a branch in Cebu or something.
I tried 3D printing in 2020, but I was frustrated with my Ender 3v1. I just pulled it out of storage to try again. But it is ssooooo slow. I was going to by a bambu because it was plug and play, but I don't like the idea that they can stop my printer if I don't update the software. I need advice on what is very user friendly and won't take forever. My current project is printing Gridfinity and Multiboard for my whole house as context for what I want to do with it so far.
Honestly I appreciate your content and I’m patiently waiting for my 3D printer upgrade until some more details come out about this Bambu ordeal. I’m also specifically waiting to hear the opinions of trusted creators in the space like yourself that have relationships with these companies. Thanks for what you do Frank!
Yeah, I was pretty discouraged by the move from bambu, plus I've been getting more frequent failures from my A1. I'm not throwing the bambu machine in the trash, but definitely starting to price out an upgrade/replacement.
I super appreciate this video. I have a Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro and it has a lot of issues (bed leveling is a nightmare). I have been looking for an upgrade and Bambu X1C was where I was leaning. Given all the proprietary crap they're doing I am looking for something else. I am hesitant to go with the K2 Plus (even though its big and has multifilament support) because of my experience. Is it worth waiting for the Elegoo or is the K2 Plus actually worth getting finally?
Loved the info here! I recently joined the Bambu FB page, hoping to learn more about the P1S, with the intention to buy one soon. That was the day before their big announcement hit. I think I lasted three days on the page before I quit it due to the toxicity; heck, the guys who were unhappy about the announcement is totally understandable, and most just wanted some clarity; but JEEBUZZ were the fanboyz batshit crazy in defending Bambu! Anyhow, I still love the look of the P1S, but don't want any extra steps in printing from whatever slicer I choose (currently using Cura and would prefer to stick with it), and I really don't like having to set up any online accounts in order to use the printer.
I'm not in a hurry, so definitely waiting on Elegoo's announcement.
I don't have a 3d printer yet but do have a 20W laser engraver for my hobby and am interested in a 3d printer. I have been looking at hours of videos on this subject and recently spoke with a new acquaintance who operates his own print farm. He was adamant about using Bambu Lab because of their software and he was concerned that they would steal his designs as seems to happen a lot with 3d files. I am very interested in what is happening with Bambu Lab and their software changes. I am leaning towards a basic Sovol v06Ace or a Creality K1c. I will continue to follow what is happening with Bambu Lab. It seems that as long as you don't use the internet with your machine and just use a thumb drive or sd card, whatever you do is yours. Am I correct?
I don't see where the firmware update would push someone away from Bambu products if it is just to make stuff for fun. Not trying to run a business, only printing fun things every couple days. Is there something else that should worry a regular user?

Elegoo has similar problems to Bambu and FL Sun, at least with their Neptune 4 model. They released a firmware update meant to fix a leveling issue which bricked the machine entirely for many. Customer service is apologetic, but doesn't actually take responsibility for anything or answer important questions.
I bought the K1 Max in March '24 and it works great. The main reason I bought it was from watching a lot of Frank's videos. It's made pretty much everything I've thrown at it. At the time the best deal I could find was at a MicroCenter that was about an hour away.

I don't understand all the Bambu hate at the moment. I see no reason to use orca slicer or other mods on a Bambu they work just fine the way they are stock. People getting way ahead of themselves before any actual serious changes have been made or decided.
I have a k1 max, and it's riddled with issues, I'd take 2 more p1ps over another creality any day.
Now if they do something crazy like subscriptions or forced to use Bambu filament, then I can see issues, but those can both probably be overcome with some hacking. I guess we'll see where things go, but I see no reason to stop using my printers until then

I got really excited about Creality's Bambu a1 mini clone, but Creality has a really bad score on TrustPilot. Not sure I can trust them.

its scary how fast the 3dprinting scene has evolved in just a few years.
Cfs while is an improvement in some points compared to ams, but on the other side it has MAJOR FLAWS….
Specially the rollers where the fillament rolls sit, which worns out like if the plastic there is butter and not plastic…
