Osama Bin Laden's letter trends on TikTok, sparking controversy | WION

After some users uploaded a decades-old letter written by former Al Qaida head Osama bin Laden to TikTok and then shared it again on X (previously Twitter), the post has gone viral. After bin Laden’s 2002 ‘Letter to America’ ignited a debate regarding US backing for Israel in its current conflict with Hamas, TikTok removed the hashtag #lettertoamerica (which had over two million views) from its search results, according to NBC News. The White House has criticized certain social media users for suggesting that the Al Qaeda founder’s document provides an alternate viewpoint of US engagement in Middle Eastern conflicts.

  1. Ok, so 26/11 was the 9/11 of India … if any stupid Indian GenZ would try to post thing glorifying it on social media, he or she would have to spend 2 nights in Jail which would ensure they get their senses back … sometimes we have to be strict with our younger generation !! I remember when I was a kid in 7th grade in India when 9/11 happened our school had 2 minutes silence to mark respect to the Americans who lost their lives !!

  3. Unfortunately, the American working class will always be the first victim of US state terrorism, systemic racialism, and foreign policy. The world can only benefit from a socially just and eye-opened US society. That’s the real threat for the ruling neoliberals. Hence the backlash set in their media against the younger generation’s reaction to this 21 year old letter.

  4. The author, presumably Osama bin Laden, argues that corporations and lobbyists have too much influence over the American government and prevent real change, harming the economy and security of the people.

He criticizes the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as driven by greed for resources like oil, and says the wars have lasted much longer than promised.

He calls for a "great revolution for freedom" against corporate influence to allow presidents to act in the people's interests, including on issues like climate change.

He defends the 9/11 attacks as a response to U.S. support for Israel's occupation of Palestine.

He argues the U.S. needs to force Israel to withdraw from all Palestinian territories to resolve the conflict and improve U.S. security.

He frames al-Qaeda's actions as justified self-defense of Muslims against killing and oppression, and says the U.S. has arrogantly harmed itself through its policies.

In summary, the document criticizes U.S. foreign policy as serving corporate interests rather than the people, and argues revolutionary change is needed for real reform on domestic and foreign issues. It portrays al-Qaeda's violence as defensive and aimed at stopping oppression of Muslims.

  7. It's so sad 😢😢😢😢 when your main job responsibility is to spread the lies of your boss, the owner and controller of the media house where you work at, otherwise no food for your children and family

  8. I think this became a clear slippery slope on the left, when you justify a genocide committed by Hamas by some sort of 'context' people will attempt the same logic also on 9/11, thanks God they didn't find nazi material, or they could have found so e compassion for then too. If only those people were that compassionate to peaceful Hindus, Jews or anyone who just want to exist and not die

  9. BTW Osama BL is still alive. He's on a witness protection in South America, clean shaven, enjoying cool champagne and riches, swimming in a pool surrounded by naked women. Look out for BL Osama (Blossoms)

  10. He hated our way of life of promoting racisam and supremacy and calling it freedom and domocracy.

He despised our western values of conducting genocide and masacres of small children and calling it collateral damage

    He was not very original
