On Friday, a judge sentenced the stepfather of an 11-year-old boy he was convicted of abusing horrifically to life in prison. The Orlando restaurant manager who saved the boy using a note asking if he needed help is speaking out about the punishment.

I hope he really is safe but just because the man is in jail doesnt mean he is safe ….my mom once made me lie to my real dad and tell him I lied about my step dad spanking me with a belt but it was true I got spanked with a belt and wooden paddle they made just for spanking me with they drilled holes in it so it would hurt worse it was a joke in our family that everyone laughed about they would pull it out and show ppl but it really wasn't funny cause they actually used it all the time…… I got punished at both places for being a liar when I wasnt lying

Child abuse is bad but life in prison? Damnn that's a long time. Some murderers don't get life in prison. I used to know many parents that would beat their kids for spankings. I don't think they should get life in prison.

What about the mum? She knew the abuse was happening and didn’t do a thing!! Guarantee she’ll get custody of the kid, and knowing this type of person, will be on the hunt looking for a new stepdad who will abuse the kid too. The mum needs to be held accountable too. Shame on her for letting this fat piece of shit abuse her child.
He gets life in prison, but the other toxic criminals get to bail out. There’s still much injustice to this judicial system.
She is the kind of immigrants who come to America legally to contribute to our society. She had to have medical examination have certain injections like polio vaccine. She also had to pay the filing fees for all the American documents and also shows that she can support herself when she comes here unlike the illegals who need every thing for free.

Such an astute and swift-thinking lady. Hope there are lots of people like her in our world.
I can't condemn or excuse this man, because I did not see the kid, or witness this man's behavior which brought this case against him. All I can do is hope that this man's conviction was justifiable, and not another case of the system going stupid. For a "step father" to be convicted of a child abuse case, one must ask WTF happened to the mother, and the child's actual father. The child's actual father should immediately receive full/sole custody, at least until a full investigation can be conducted. The mother should also be arrested no matter what. If a fastfood worker can see the kid was in that kind of trouble and got the cops involved, then the mother is equally guilty of neglect and child abuse.
