  1. This is heartbreaking. I grew up watching the original group. Through all the changes Sam remained constant. With all the love shared the past few days shows how beloved he was.

  2. He seemed nice enough, but was not very well spoken. Instead of trying to improve himself and set a better example for the young people of the Southern California community, he just kept on with his horrible grammar. Such a shame. But he will still be missed.

  3. Sam will definitely be missed. I enjoyed watching him every morning. The exchange he had with the other colleagues, was so much fun to watch. You could feel he was truly a good person. He was genuine and was loved by those who watched KTLA. He was the best in his field. RIP Sam.

  4. I think it would be a great idea to start honoring people like Sam while they are alive…do it on birthdays, during staff appreciation week, or just improvised, whenever!! Life is too short, and now he doesn't get to hear all these beautiful stories and anecdotes…so sad😒 Thinking of his wife and kids, and all who knew and loved him ❀

  5. Sam's reports were always such a fun safe place. Just the ultimate people person. I think he understood what the entertainment industry was supposed to be about: fun, spectacle, empathy, belonging, education…just a good time for everyone.

  6. My mother passed away a few years back, but I always remember how I woke up every morning for school and my mother would have the ktla morning news on while preparing our breakfast and lunch. I would sit there, eat my breakfast while watching Sam Rubin and Mark Kriski bicker with each other, and would think, "What kind of news is this?!?!".

  7. I'm 34. I grew up watching this OG crew. Having them on my tv in the morning EVERY DAY. Sam was one of the reasons that I am so excited and knowledgeable about entertainment and movies. This was a shock and all I can say is that he is a legend and will be remembered as such. R.I.P. Sam

  8. So nice to see the old KTLA team back together again. What a touching tribute to the great Sam Rubin. There will never be another Sam, he was larger than live! He loved his job so much, and he loved his KTLA family. RIP sweet Sam, rest easy ❀

  9. here to stir the pot…I'm sure he was a great guy but his position as entertainment guy should've ended decades ago. He was so out of touch and is the exact reason there should be term limits for a job like that. Some of his latest entertainment interviews were painful to watch.
