Thanks for the honest review!!
Can't remember the last time someone used honest brutal words like this in such professional review
Was really looking forward to this game
Just finished this game and I loved it. 9/10 from me.
The problem I have with this review is it kind of misses the point of professional game reviews. Clearly the reviewer played this game and didn't like it, and that's ok! There's relatively few games that click with me too. But professional reviewers have to play all sorts of games that are in genres that they don't like and play all sorts of games that they don't necessarily want to play at the moment. Professional reviews are less about "is this a game the reviewer wants to play" and more about "is this a well made game to where someone who wants a lore-heavy sci-fi visual novel experience like this?" This is such a well made game and it absolutely accomplishes what it sets out to do, that I do think giving it a 4/10 just because it's not the reviewer's type of game is somewhat disingenuous. I don't like fighting games but that doesn't mean I can give every fighting game a low score. Obviously, there are good fighting games out there. 4/10 implies a broken or incompetently-made game and this game isn't broken at all, it's just not the type of game the reviewer personally likes.
Yeah…. not a fan of this review.
I felt the same. They throw you into this world and expect you to already care about and understand everything.
The result was, I just really don't care about the characters or the story, it felt shallow. The setting is pretty cool but having to read cryptic wall of text after wall of text of lore about history, religion and politics doesn't make me interested, it just really turns me off.
How exactly can you have "death game overs" when you are the person telling the story.
It would be like if I said "Long ago me and my closest female friend, where driving into the country for our long anticipated vacation, suddenly Somali Pirates showed up and shot us full of 100 holes a piece…. THE END"
Remi did have a reason to hate Jun though. She viewed him as someone who could take her only family (Eda) away.
