Opposition push ‘nuclear issue’ on regions with incentives to replace old coal-fired power

Sky News host Andrew Bolt says the Opposition is pushing the “nuclear issue” by offering incentives to regions which would accept nuclear if the ban is lifted.

“About this nuclear issue, right, the Opposition says it wants the ban on nuclear power scrapped,” Mr Bolt said.

“To get over Labor’s scare campaign – it is planning to offer incentives to regions that do accept a nuclear power station where an old coal-fired power one was or still is.

“Do you think with incentives like that, the Liberals could win this argument against Labor?”

Mr Bolt sat down with GXO Strategies Director Cameron Milner and Former New South Wales Labor treasurer Michael Costa to discuss nuclear policy and politics.

Peter Dutton will be long retired before it is even built..

  3. When this proposal is rejected at the next general election or even a referendum, i just hope Andrew finally shuts his mouth on this issue .I really hope he campaigns heavily for it ,to ensure its defeat and hears the overwhelming majority voters' views about him .

  5. The best campaign for nuclear is a proper education based on facts, which Labor is notoriously allergic to. A full and proper costing, start-to-finish of a nuclear grid vs the "renewables plus storage" one would sink the ruinables forever.

  7. Aluminum smelters who are Australia’s largest user of electricity will launch a tender next week for wind and solar generated electricity. The majority owner is saying nuclear is out of the question because it is too slow and too expensive. The majority owner has sold their coal operations and closed their uranium mine in the Northern Territory. If hard-nosed resource companies are not supporting nuclear power – Toxic Ted and Plutonium Pete will have a significant have a marketing problem.
