  1. FF7 remake does SUCH a good job with litmotifs and dynamic progression. I highly recommend any of those tracks. 'One winged angel rebirth' is such a motif tease for those who heard the original.

  2. There have been so many times where i was down to no health potions and the monster wasnt even limping yet and then proof of a hero came on and i won that fight. I dont know what it is about proof of a hero but i legit play better when it is playing.

  3. You should tell robert Sekiro is by far the hardest From soft game- bloodborne, elden ring etc are much easier and more forgiving. If he got halfway through Sekiro he can beat their other games.

  4. I'm not perfectly sure on Xenogears but I remember that song playing in a church actually. Probably not the exact same song, it might have been bit crushed but I'm pretty sure it was in the game. But it's been a long time since I played that game. The context, I think was. . .

major spoilers for Xenogears I guess

The main character in Xenogears was Fei Fong Wong, a guy that is tied to this lady Ellie. Every lifetime they find each other and fall in love although they don't remember anything about their past lives. One life Fei was a painter and the magnum opus of that life was this huge painting of that version of Ellie. Current Fei finds this painting hanging in a church with the PS1 god rays shining down on it noticing it resembles a woman he knows.

    major spoilers for Xenogears over

You where reverse right on Armored Core For Answer. The surface was poisoned but it was more recent and rich people escaped to giant floating cities called Cradles. The mercenaries, soldiers, and poor folk get to stay on the irradiated surface of the planet. To me, that's why the song is so melancholy, someone is always going to get shunned while the rest get to live in paradise.

  5. unfortunately somehow the 2 destiny songs are flipped, the second one is the main theme and the first is battle ready. their commentary is correct for what should be playing but the accompanying music isn't the right piece

  6. "They require a lot of time" for the Xenoblade series feels like it's putting it mildly.

On programming concerts to include both traditional classical and things that have an appeal to people who aren't currently into classical, an interesting example was one of the proms the BBC did probably about 10 years back now. At the time they had a hugely successful educational children's sketch comedy show, Horrible Histories, which had a comedy song in each episode, and they put on a prom for that show. Meaning you got orchestral arrangements of parody songs to various pop music, but also they alternated those with entry level – The target audience was children, afterall – extracts from classical compositions, I think some of them were on theme and others were period appropriate.

  7. The ingame version of "We the Wounded …" was a midi version with no actual vocals or lyrics. I never liked it much, I always skipped it on the soundtrack. 😅 But this version is actually quite nice!

Ahem. Between Xenogears and Xenoblade Chronicles, there also was Xenosaga. 8D

  8. As for "we wounded…" from Xenogears If I may, I'd suggest listening to "Xenogears Creid" from the Album it give the game to. It is a variation featuring a solo voice and an arrangement with a completely different vibe. While the choir version sounds impressive and sublime, I find Creid's solo has a purity of intention in the lyrical voice and it feels homey, yet sacred and moving, transforming what already is a prayer, into something more. ❤ for your videos.

  9. All webcam mics are terrible!
There is some feedback going on here from Roberts webcam mic.
Please tell your editor to mute his mic while listening to tracks, if your guest is saying something during the song your editor can unmute/crossfade that part in.
It would be preferable to have your guests use a headset.

  11. If you haven't heard it before, you should react to some Persona music, especially Persona 5. Songs like Rivers in the Desert, Life Will Change, Last Surprise and Throw Away Your Mask are truly incredible and so different from anything else here that it'd definitely be worth including a song or two, especially Rivers in the Desert.

  12. From league of legends; Jhin and Kindred are many levels above all other log in screen music Riot has ever created. I love that your exposing other professional musicians to the gaming music. So much goes into great games and so often many of the people in the genre never get even close to the respect they deserve. Edit: for an example in a different field. Stan Lee would tell people he was a writer and avoid telling them he wrote for comic books for a very long time of his extremely long career. (I'm not claiming he was a brilliant write either, he always knew acclaimed writers would look down upon him)

Edit again: I had to give this video a "like". =)

  13. Fun to watch! One Winged Angel was always fully orchestrated even in the original release of FF7 on Playstation, it was an audiotrack on the gamedisc in opposite to the midi tracks used in the rest of the game. That is one of the reasons why it had such an effect, that moment significantly raised the sound quality to what seemed impossible based on the technology the rest of the audio was using.

  14. I honestly wish Xenogears was represented with Stars in the night sky, and Soaring. As those 2 pieces of music tell an entire story just off of how the the same Melody head nearly identical piece of music is changed and how it is handled to convey so many different emotions

  15. I find it baffling when music people have such crappy audio. Your levels are all over the place, your vocal fry is annoying and every S you pronounce kills me a bit.
and the other guy, jesus, have some respect for the audience.

  16. After not really having played games since he was young, to jump into Elden Ring, and beat Malenia, that's very impressive.
It was interesting to hear his perspective. If you could have him as a guest again some time and listen to some more tracks, that would be cool.

  18. I suppose I should mention that for Tenebre Rosso Sangue there is actually a track before it that's called UltraChurch. I suppose it's not something heard in-game and isn't a necessary listen, but if you want the whole experience for TRS then I'd definitely recommend giving that a listen to as well.

  19. I would add that "In the Balance" is not only a celebration of Nald'Thal itself but of the whole desert/mercantile Ul'dan culture that revolves around it
