One Thing I Love About Every Call of Duty Zombies Map

Throughout it’s 14 year run, Zombies has been the thing that’s really helped set the Call of Duty franchise apart from countless other first-person military shooters for me. Even though the quality has been all over the place, I’m personally of the mind that every single map has something to offer, even if it’s something tiny. So today, I wanted to go through every single one of them and point out something I love about it, whether that’s some easter egg, a wunder weapon or even just a little lore tidbit.

  1. Hope you all enjoyed this little look through COD Zombies! Like I said at the end, I'm curious as to what little things y'all love about Zombies as well!
BTW, If I sound different between certain segments, it's because I recorded a lot of this on separate days. I TRIED to make it all sound similar, but I sound slightly different literally every time I record and sometimes even in the same session. soz lol

Update time: I feel like I say this every time but, its been a hot minute, huh? The IWZ retrospective was supposed to be next I know and this video was actually supposed to be out in April, but creative burnout is a bitch. I haven't the faintest as to when the next video will be out either since I've been spending most of my free time making render art or playing completely different games like Bayonetta and Ultrakill, plus I'm still kinda burnt-out. Could be next month. Could be when Outbreak 2 comes out in November. Who knows? Regardless of what's next and when, I'm really happy with how this video turned out and I hope you all enjoyed watching it.

    Take care, everyone 🙂

  2. Zombies is such a diverse game mode and has plenty for everyone. And to think it all came from a small little side project in waw. I respect the effort put into this video man. Really clean. The work shows (:

  5. I’ve been doing the hardcore Easter eggs on ww2 and I skipped to darkest shore just to see what could possibly be good about that map and you mentioned someone getting torn apart. Is that actually the only good about that map because I forgot that even happened.

  6. I'll just pick one Map from Each Game that had the thing I liked about that map that stood out to me the most from the other maps

    World at War:
Verruk – The Atmosphere and how it sells the point that you're in an Asylum with the Screaming and Scribbling on the Walls.

    Black Ops 1:
Call Of The Dead – George Romero wanting to Dig Up the Old 935 Experiments to do who knows what maybe create his own Zombies to make his films to really Solidify his Title as the Godfather of the Dead.

    Black Ops 2:
Mob Of The Dead – The Monologues each Character has with themselves when they're down and how they are Sorry they are for the things they've done

    Black Ops 3 :
Gorod Krovi – The Upgraded Monkey Bomb Quest in which you are honouring a fallen soldier with Flowers, A Candle and a Flask is so sentimental.

    Advanced Warfare :
Descent – The Easter Egg Step where you have to wear a Goliath Suit and walk the Ocean Floor to press the button as I looked around to notice how dark the bottom of the Ocean is I always have the Spine Tingling Feeling that I'm going to get attacked by a Sea Creature even though I know their isn't one.

    Infinite Warfare:
Spaceland – The Setting of the 80's and the Fact it's in a Amusement/Theme Park is the perfect setting for a Zombies map and it's funny using Infinite Warfares weapons in this Map because they fit the Sci Fi Craze of the 80's.

    WW2:
Final Reich – The Panzermorder's Grotesque design with the Amalgamation off all those Corpses being Welded and Stitched together still creeps me out to this day.

    Black Ops 4:
Blood of The Dead – The Presence of Ghosts in the Map and you helping them get their freedom after years of Torment and Torture .

    Cold War:
Die Maschine – Going into the Dark Either and seeing our reality being bent into this Nightmarish but also somewhat Beautiful world and how our actions there affect our reality in the map.

    Vanguard :
Honestly I don't have much to say in terms of Vanguard Zombies so I'll just say I liked the Satanic Themes each map has and how Quirky the Demon Gods are.

If you took the time to read all this, I appreciate it, and I am sorry for the Long Read

  7. Dude, Rizzo, I appreciate your take on zombies. I actually got back into this late last year after I was laid off (hadn’t played since bo2) and I have been just ABSORBED into these games! I feel the biggest thing I’ve been drawn to about this game mode is the sheer amount of things to do and variety! Since getting laid off I saw BO3 + zombies chronicles was on sale and I played the living mess out of that game! Then, after that I wanted to branch out and see what these other zombies games were about – and I heard a lot of trash talking (BO4 ruined the story, AW is trash, IW takes a nosedive in quality after the first map, WW2 is forgettable and bland,BO:CW is too easy, and Vanguard is to be burned at the stake). Hearing all of that made me feel a bit down but I bought another one anyways (AW) and much to my surprise (even though, yes, not better than BO3) I had a lot of fun with it! So, looking through the internet (and don’t worry, I’m getting to my point here) I was curious if anyone else had any sort of positive things to say about these other games. I know what people hate about them, but is there anything that they did right? And on YouTube, I wasn’t going to get much of that from the popular guys. So, to my surprise, I found your in-depth reviews of each game and they greatly helped me out with which game to get next (I have them all now on PS4 – even ghosts for extinction) so thanks for looking at these games with both the critical eye and the ability to notice the positives that each map brings. Every map has something unique to bring (whether visual or gameplay or lore) and that’s something that I love the most about zombies.

  8. TLDR: overlooked pockets of map design
Always loved the diner sign in Tranzit had most of the lights blurred out so it only read NOW DIE and I don't know how many people noticed it but my good ness it was such one of those minute details I loved Treyarch implemented in their maps.

  9. Neat fact me and a friend figured out with the M27 in BO3:
It is functionally identical to the ICR, animations (albeit having an earlier buggy slide animation like the shields), damage, and almost all sounds minus the reload sounds.
Its likely the M27 was a testing weapon that was used as a basis for the ICR, much like the Brecci in BO4's trailers. It was probably left in the files as a biproduct and was never truly written out of the code until after Zetsubou.

tl;dr the ICR IS the M27, just a futuristic version with a different model.
