Seeing the comments…..I'll never understand the take that SF1 = BN1. The latter was a boring mess that barely felt like a finished product. It genuinely felt like one of the worst games I've ever played.
The worst of Battle Network is REALLY bad (BN1 and BN4) and I don't think SF1 comes close to that.
SF 3 is that good, makes you wish that they never cancelled SF 4
29:03 goose remains naturally evil , in starforce world and irl
looking forward for future uploads
11:18 both were definitely inspired by some tokusatsu series like Kamen rider or super sentai(power ranger)
It's nice to get this refresher. I played this game back when I was like 21, way way after this game came out. I just remember the first two bosses, and then later on just wanting the game to end. I think it was that part about Geo regressing that kinda threw me off and not wanting to deal with it anymore. At that time I had a LOT of patience for bad writing in video games. Back then the only game I had ever just flat out dropped was the 3DS kingdom hearts because I couldn't stand Sora and Neku's interactions, but this one came close.
9:54 Yes Aliens… Duo was an A.I. in a meteor with the purpose of judging planets and the native lifeforms. He couldn't be coming from Earth so he was created by Aliens. How does Starforce jump the shark with Aliens exactly?
Tbh I really can't wait for you to try Starforce 3 since there is a lot of stuff in it which you pointed out missing in this game. I won't spoiler anything but to say the least: It is WAY better then Starforce 1^^
¡¿holding hands?! ¡Thats outrageous!
goose man flapping wings in the vacuum of space, of course
I sure will have fun with Wifi because Wiimfi exists which replaces it.
Though it may just be unintentional or wishful thinking on my part, Geo immediately returning to his old shut-in ways is not at all uncharacteristic of individuals with depression. All-or-nothing thinking, catastrophizing, and relapse into problem behaviors are VERY common responses to adversity when you are stuck in a way of living like Geo. Oftentimes psychotherapy can be a process of "retraining" your body/mind to change how you think and respond to situations.
Megaman Starforce came around around the time I lost my grandfather and it'll always hold a special place in my heart for being the approachable story about loss and loneliness I needed when my most immediate caregiver passed.
SF1 not having customization was miserable, but even without it the game actually felt playable.
SF2 painfully suffers from middle child syndrome, and is my least favourite of the three. (Thankfully, if you know how to use star cards, you can mitigate the bad game by overpowered stuff.)
SF3 is, as everyone is telling you, the best of the bunch, for a lot of reasons that I hope you discover soon.
Nice vid!
I prefer Battle Network but I love Star Force ❤
He said Now Study! is a certified hood classic 11/10
I actually prefer Luna over Sonia but this is a case where both of the characters are really good. I just wish that Luna wasn't such wasted potential especially in Star Force 3
37:08 laughed so hard at the Zach hate lol XD
You know, since I only ever played Starforce 1, I'm eager to see what that ending was aluding to. SF2 sounds like it's noooot going to leave a good impression lol.
I will say that the chunky battle models is the exact artstyle I’d wanna shoot for if I ever made a game.
Something about it is just so charming
I borrowed this from a friend once, and when I played through it, it was an a hand-me-down DS with a severely damaged digitizer. Watching through your video, I have no idea how I beat this with all of the touch gimmicks
You know, if i had a nickel for every time I've seen a blond class president whose last name is shirogane and they have a hard time expressing their love properly, I'd have two which isn't alot but weird its happened twice.
59:19 is by far the most I've laughed at one of your videos cause I can see lunas parents like that
IN THE FOCKIN TRASH WHERE YA BELONG got to me
59:31 'Slap that daft cunt in private school'
Another line for the ages.
Yep pure memories but Andromeda sucks, and they reuse it in the sequel but I like my better
Kelvin Stelar? The Miracle Worker?!
Starforce is an interesting series for me since I really loved these games as a kid, possibly even more than the BN games, to the point where I pretty much 100%'d all of them and even bought most of the games on release with the former being something I never did with Battle Network. I think part of the reason for that was because I really sucked at folder building back then and mostly just put in a bunch of really strong chips with no regards to chip codes so while it may sound ridiculous that Capcom dumbed these games down to get more players into it, I can't say they were entirely wrong at least for kids like me.
I kinda wish we could get versions of these games with Battle Networks combat since I like everything else about them except for the battle system now. I still get my fun out of it yeah but it's painfully shallow even by the time you get to 3 and suffers from some very bad power balancing both in and out of PvP. It makes me wish sometimes that this series had been made into a full on 3D action game similar to something like Ratchet and Clank or Vanquish over what we got.
Wow just looked it up, Brother band's innovater was none other than the previous protagonist Lan Hikari, the name "brother band" was chosen because he wanted everyone to have the same brotherly bond he had with his twin, Hub.
As for the secrets and not lying thing, I looked it up apparently it had something to do with the "Soul Net" in bn 5 (haven't played upto that point in collection).
But yep. It adds up honestly, Lan, is in the line of the Dr. Hikari family and he's really delved into the topic of bond personified to power with his navi, and not just in terms of shonen esque cliche but down right to the mechanics of the playstyles from: full synchro, to style changes and crosses and beast outs. This just makes the concept 10x better, and he got the idea from the crossover game when Geo formed a brother band with him, ironically calling it "corney".
Not to mention that he had a few run ins with Cossac and Wily who used a device that helped "facilitate" an artificial full synchro. The realm of possibility was all but within his reach to work around the "lying" patch so that it wouldn't work if someone tried to fake it.
I’m so glad you’re covering effeminates during Pride month! 🌈
Geo being called "mopy complainer" by some people really bums me out, as someone who also struggles with depression.
Life already sucks, now how we're reacting to it is annoying for all the healthy people? Hell truly is other people.
I guess I'll be devils advocate and say LUNA IS BEST GIRL
Honestly, only playing Starforce 2 I cant have a solid opinion on the franchise. But, coming from the Battle network series SF2 felt super tedious and the power creeping of the chips made things super easy way too fast. I hope they remake the star force series we can have a more updated comparison between the two on equal grounds
7:55 Battle Network intensifies
Cygnus Wing's scenario made me game over because of ONE Normal Enemy (Yes, the Enemy takes so much of your HP that it's horrible, Attacking it sucks on Real Hardware and i regret playing MMSF)
Yet this was on REAL Nintendo DS Hardware (2DS XL) so it sucked a little
At least Taurus Fire felt fun and challenging without it being brutal
The Bull Sections are very easy on DS because of how fast and precise you have to touch with the DS Stylus
I was playing Mega Man Star Force Pegasus as well (I should've chose Mega Man Star Force Dragon because of 2024 being Year of the Dragon, but oh well…)
