I think that this chapter pretty much confirms that the man marked by flames is Saul
I'd love a story arc from Robin's perspective
It's possible they considered the information in those books to be lost since they were in the lake and would have water damage. That would be my assumption anyway if I was of any authority and I would just let them continue to waste away in the water. Of course my logic would be proven false but I wouldn't suspect any different.

I think they know or have idea of what happen before the void century. Since void means hole or missing . We know everything in history but this one century is missing

For the Marines overlooking the books, maybe Saul tricked them or something similar to that since he was a well known prior vice admiral and we'll potentially find out when we reunite with Saul on Elbaf

Theres always the possibility the Marines just assumed the water would destroy the Oharan books eventually. The fact they seemed to have survived may mean they were made to be waterproof. With Vegapunk being Clover's friend, the books could've been written in smudgeproof and waterproof ink. And with paper that can't warp or easily wear away.
Though, the existence of education and literary in the upper tiers of the World Government is explicitly NOT evidence of the same in the random grunts.
A lot of the grunts who noticed the books in the lake might also lack the ability to connect the books to the Scholars' "dangerous research".
Or everyone there was from "No idea how books work Island". XD

I've been seeing this in the comments and I just wanna put it out there, would Saul be "the man marked by flames" then? He's covered in scars from what I assume to be burns and the only people who seemed to know about it are Kid and Law, maybe they heard about Saul from somewhere.
Tekking about the water damage to books they probably were destroyed we have found books that have been underwater for like 3 or more years and Still recovered them and made them readable again
Id laugh if one of the marines who seen that lake full of books appeared in the story, and is some obscured higher up and when the final war pops off he is just sitting there like 👁️👄👁️

It took me a while to realise it is a nice way of saying "I request your help".
Quasar in astronomy is a massive and extremely remote Celestial object, emitting exceptionally large amount of energy and appears as a star in a telescope. It has been suggested that they represent a stage in the evolution of galaxies. It is probable that Vegapunk was referring to himself as a quasar since he is known as he thinks of himself as a person of high intellect and vision. Maybe he is referring to the island as a quasar. It could also be that it is another reference to science. On his ship in the flashback, PH was written on the hails. A pH is a scale from 1 to 14 that measures acidity. I am not certain if PH was short for anything or it was a reference to pH.
Requasar might also be a reference to Ray quasar in Pokemon who is inspired by a flying serpent God Querzelcoatle.
Caesar and Judge teaming up is one of the potentially scary things that could happen, that said their snail ships are one of the few ways the revolutionaries could assault marijois en-masse.

Saul was frozen by Aokiji's Ice Time Capsule which is probably used to capture someone without hurting/killing them. Although the buster call certainly unfroze him and ruined his body. He is very likely the man marked by flame that Kid and Killer talked about.
Just remember the Name of the Technique Aokiji used. "Time Capsule" Doesn't sound like a Killing move to me

Can’t believe that I didn’t realise when first reading that saul is most likely the man marked by flames, not only is he from the d clan, he is in hiding and has oharas research, maybe even learning to read poneglyphs since ohara, flames would signify if he was caught in the fire or burns from the ice, curious how law and kid would know about him tho

I don't think it was low level employees, I think it was spandine who got lazy and didn't want to do it, and just assumed no one would come to the island anyway, and the books were probably ruined.

31:24 when vegapunk says they are ignorant i think he is talking about they didnt know the true reason they destroyed the island the goverment did a cover up and a bad one that ohara tried to destroy the world goverment. The books wouldnt look like the thing that needed to be destroyed. They could had report it but when the information came and they end someone to finish the job it was too late they only find some scraps and hoped the water had finish the job but they also could be suspicious maybe after investigating they thinking vegapunk took the books is one of the reasons they want him eliminated

Final chapter of one Piece Tekking needs to do an impression of Orochi and Vega Punk meeting.
So if Saul is the exact man marked by fire who Kidd was talking about, he must know the where the final Road Ponaglyth is. So if the Straw Hats go to Elbaph, they will find him, when they find him, they find the last Road Ponaglyth and when they find that, they find the One Piece.
