Thoughts on the new setup in the arc structure? Will Oda continue with Law’s story next chapter or will it be off screen? How will Bonney’s confrontation with Vegapunk go?

  1. I disagree that we won’t get more cover stories of note. What better way to streamline & accelerate the story than the free real estate page of the cover story?

  2. In terms of superheroes, there's an interesting page on TvTropes describing the "Proto-Superhero". This came during the late 1800s and early 1900s. This covers characters who somewhat fit the genre of fighting crime and villains, but don't necessarily have superpowers, though they do possess incredible natural strength and intelligence, and sometimes a gimmick. Think Zorro (the Masked Californian dude, not the pirate), the Green Hornet, and even Sherlock Holmes to an extent. [There are also proto-supervillains, like the Phantom of the Opera].

TvTropes does characterize Superman as the codifier for the modern superhero, but it's interesting to note that when he debuted, he couldn't fly or use heat vision or anything like that. He was strong, fast, and could jump real high. He literally had super "man" abilities. So it's easy to see how even he evolved out of the Proto-Superhero genre. (Batman is also a direct extension of a Zorro-like masked impressive-but-still-ordinary human).

  3. it definitely seems like doc q can just decide something is a disease and then make it a contagious affliction. like he could say "uhhh, growing teeth out of your eyes is a disease, now you're catching teeth eyes disease"

  4. it think you were wrong about the 4 road poneglyphs. you know how big mom has that road poneglyph , i thought maybe big mom got it from fishmen island when she took over after whitebeard's death. then kid got the rubbing when they were transferring it to whole cake island. makes sense since kid was in the area when white beard died. that's why robin doesn't find it on fishmen island. i don't remember what they said about it then, but this seems right.
the forth one i think was supposed to be on Alabasta and maybe is even still there.

  5. Personally I think Atlas’ role isn’t to be a strength test for Vegapunk’s creations, but instead was made to fill the role of Vegapunk’s ‘Wrath’.
Vegapunk would probably get super mad about the same stuff that Atlas does, like lack of funding and stuff, and punching everything bit into his time he could be using to invent stuff, he’s such an efficient and logical guy that he probably thought “I’ll make a robot that gets mad and punches things for me, that way I don’t have to!”

  6. I wonder if the timing of vegapunk assassination is related to the nika fruit awakening after centuries. The world government is trying to make sure luffy can’t get vegapunk to explain the fruit to him. I also wonder if the similarities between Enel’s big attack and the “Uranus” lasers used to destroy lulusia, are more related than we think. You mentioned his cover story coming back into the main story and this might be what happened. Enel reawakened Uranus and now Imu can use it again. Great chapter.

  7. What the fans want- Law vs Blackbeard
What the fans will get- Luffy on Science Island and then the aftermath of the Law vs Blackbeard fight

I'd love to be proven wrong though and see more of it.
