  1. Gotta say, this game loses a lot for me, due to combat being completely two-dimensional. That's always a bit weird when it's about something flying.

  2. Air battles where everything is locked on a 2D plane in an otherwise 3D game just feels wrong… also the ships looking like boats and having wakes… it just feels like an ocean pirates game where the water glitched out. Pretty immersion breaking IMO, but if they came up with a way to make this truly 3D as air combat SHOULD be, it would be an absolute masterpiece. You wouldn't even need to redo the damage model, all you need is a variable for angle of verticality relative to target and have constraints for how steep of an angle you can shoot at and modify chance to hit as it goes up. Maybe add 'Z levels' to the ship voxels to simulate getting hit from above or below. I would play THE CRAP out of THAT game, but as it stands the 2Dness reallllly turns me off of this.

  3. a huge miss that the ship you build does not reflect during battle, would have been perfect, almost close to Naval ops which to this day im waiting for a successor.

  4. Bruh you should take some of that money youve been milking from hand outs off youtube over the years and take some vocal classes. Really invest back into your channel. Over the years your voice has gotten more nasally and annoying. You sound like one of those "well ashuallly" people. Then again what did i expect from a begger on the internet whos most marketable skill set is complaining about games he plays on the internet. Heres splatter cat 11 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT672GcowJc. Yeah really sad how far down hill some of yall followed your favorite parasocial relationships.

  5. a lot of people are saying it reminds them of star sector but i dont know it looks and acts like battle-fleet gothic armada to me, just controlling one ship instead of a whole task force, especially with the status effects.

  6. From minute 1, so I don't know if you'll mention it. But did you ever play Treasure Planet: Battle of Procyon? That was the very first thing that this reminded me of. An old game but if you like this one maybe take a look at it if you have some time to breathe

  7. Eh, I really, really want something that would scratch that Sid Meier's Pirates! itch too, but this ain't it. It seems fine for some 5h, but then it falls off really quickly. One of the issues is the world…like, why are the towns some 40km from one another? There is nothing in between them of note – just make them be some 10km apart, you're not fooling us on how "big the world is".

Also, performance is fine, but this game makes my both gaming rigs run HOT even on low settings, specifically, the GPU. While I can run modern AAA, insane graphics games on high settings with my GPU sitting at 50-60 degrees, this game on High makes my 3070 run at 80-90, and 70-75 on low settings. That is just nonsense, the game's graphics might let you think that running it at 4k would not even push your GPU past 45 degrees.

While I thought that the story is somewhat optional, it really isn't, if you want to engage in later-game crafting and stuff.

And the worst thing of them all – numbers just straight up win, if your enemy is stronger (not in terms of the "supposed power level" on the map, but what guns they have, etc) you will not win, outside of maybe some stupidly lucky ammo rack explosions or smthn.

Overall it looks promising, but most of the issues I had with the game are intentionally put there by the developer, so I highly doubt any of that (outside of maybe setting the GPU on fire) will change.

  8. great to know they seem to be going to way of Starsector, this had amazing potential since the first time I saw it. I have huge expectations from this game, but maybe I'll give them a couple more years.

  9. This game run in my computer, but because the antialising is not very compatible with my computer, I have to run the game in low resolution, is a shame that this game not have FXAA, I could get better graphics with it.

  10. Pirates! Gold and New Horizons (on SNES) are two of my all-time favorite games. I always have an itch for some thing in that area…Merchants of the Skies and Star Traders are the best two modern games so far to hit in the same neighborhood… I’ll check this one out for sure.
